LUKE Chapter 22 1 Now the feast of Unleavened Bread drew near, which is called the Passover. 2 And the chief priests and the scribes were seeking how to put him to death; for they feared the people. 3 Then Satan entered into Judas called Iscariot, who was of the number of the twelve; 4 he went away and conferred with the chief priests and officers how he might betray him to them. 5 And they were glad, and engaged to give him money. 6 So he agreed, and sought an opportunity to betray him to them in the absence of the multitude. 7 Then came the day of Unleavened Bread, on which the passover lamb had to be sacrificed. 8 So Jesus sent Peter and John, saying, "Go and prepare the passover for us, that we may eat it." 9 They said to him, "Where will you have us prepare it?" 10 He said to them, "Behold, when you have entered the city, a man carrying a jar of water will meet you; follow him into the house which he enters, 11 and tell the householder, 'The Teacher says to you, Where is the guest room, where I am to eat the passover with my disciples?' 12 And he will show you a large upper room furnished; there make ready." 13 And they went, and found it as he had told them; and they prepared the passover. 14 And when the hour came, he sat at table, and the apostles with him. 15 And he said to them, "I have earnestly desired to eat this passover with you before I suffer; 16 for I tell you I shall not eat it until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God." 17 And he took a cup, and when he had given thanks he said, "Take this, and divide it among yourselves; 18 for I tell you that from now on I shall not drink of the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes." 19 And he took bread, and when he had given thanks he broke it and gave it to them, saying, "This is my body which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me." 20 And likewise the cup after supper, saying, "This cup which is poured out for you is the new covenant in my blood. 21 But behold the hand of him who betrays me is with me on the table. 22 For the Son of man goes as it has been determined; but woe to that man by whom he is betrayed!" 23 And they began to question one another, which of them it was that would do this. 24 A dispute also arose among them, which of them was to be regarded as the greatest. 25 And he said to them, "The kings of the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and those in authority over them are called benefactors. 26 But not so with you; rather let the greatest among you become as the youngest, and the leader as one who serves. 27 For which is the greater, one who sits at table, or one who serves? Is it not the one who sits at table? But I am among you as one who serves. 28 "You are those who have continued with me in my trials; 29 and I assign to you, as my Father assigned to me, a kingdom, 30 that you may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom, and sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel. 31 "Simon, Simon, behold, Satan demanded to have you, that he might sift you like wheat, 32 but I have prayed for you that your faith may not fail; and when you have turned again, strengthen your brethren." 33 And he said to him, "Lord, I am ready to go with you to prison and to death." 34 He said, "I tell you, Peter, the cock will not crow this day, until you three times deny that you know me." 35 And he said to them, "When I sent you out with no purse or bag or sandals, did you lack anything?" They said, "Nothing." 36 He said to them, "But now, let him who has a purse take it, and likewise a bag. And let him who has no sword sell his mantle and buy one. 37 For I tell you that this scripture must be fulfilled in me, 'And he was reckoned with transgressors'; for what is written about me has its fulfilment." 38 And they said, "Look, Lord, here are two swords." And he said to them, "It is enough." 39 And he came out, and went, as was his custom, to the Mount of Olives; and the disciples followed him. 40 And when he came to the place he said to them, "Pray that you may not enter into temptation." 41 And he withdrew from them about a stone's throw, and knelt down and prayed, 42 "Father, if thou art willing, remove this cup from me; nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done." 43 44 45 And when he rose from prayer, he came to the disciples and found them sleeping for sorrow, 46 and he said to them, "Why do you sleep? Rise and pray that you may not enter into temptation." 47 While he was still speaking, there came a crowd, and the man called Judas, one of the twelve, was leading them. He drew near to Jesus to kiss him; 48 but Jesus said to him, "Judas, would you betray the Son of man with a kiss?" 49 And when those who were about him saw what would follow, they said, "Lord, shall we strike with the sword?" 50 And one of them struck the slave of the high priest and cut off his right ear. 51 But Jesus said, "No more of this!" And he touched his ear and healed him. 52 Then Jesus said to the chief priests and officers of the temple and elders, who had come out against him, "Have you come out as against a robber, with swords and clubs? 53 When I was with you day after day in the temple, you did not lay hands on me. But this is your hour, and the power of darkness." 54 Then they seized him and led him away, bringing him into the high priest's house. Peter followed at a distance; 55 and when they had kindled a fire in the middle of the courtyard and sat down together, Peter sat among them. 56 Then a maid, seeing him as he sat in the light and gazing at him, said, "This man also was with him." 57 But he denied it, saying, "Woman, I do not know him." 58 And a little later some one else saw him and said, "You also are one of them." But Peter said, "Man, I am not." 59 And after an interval of about an hour still another insisted, saying, "Certainly this man also was with him; for he is a Galilean." 60 But Peter said, "Man, I do not know what you are saying." And immediately, while he was still speaking, the cock crowed. 61 And the Lord turned and looked at Peter. And Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how he had said to him, "Before the cock crows today, you will deny me three times." 62 And he went out and wept bitterly. 63 Now the men who were holding Jesus mocked him and beat him; 64 they also blindfolded him and asked him, "Prophesy! Who is it that struck you?" 65 And they spoke many other words against him, reviling him. 66 When day came, the assembly of the elders of the people gathered together, both chief priests and scribes; and they led him away to their council, and they said, 67 "If you are the Christ, tell us." But he said to them, "If I tell you, you will not believe; 68 and if I ask you, you will not answer. 69 But from now on the Son of man shall be seated at the right hand of the power of God." 70 And they all said, "Are you the Son of God, then?" And he said to them, "You say that I am." 71 And they said, "What further testimony do we need? We have heard it ourselves from his own lips." |

MARK Mark 14:1 It was now two days before the Passover and the feast of Unleavened Bread. And the chief priests and the scribes were seeking how to arrest him by stealth, and kill him; Mark 14:2 for they said, "Not during the feast, lest there be a tumult of the people." Mark 14:10 Then Judas Iscariot, who was one of the twelve, went to the chief priests in order to betray him to them. Mark 14:11 And when they heard it they were glad, and promised to give him money. And he sought an opportunity to betray him. Mark 14:12 And on the first day of Unleavened Bread, when they sacrificed the passover lamb, his disciples said to him, "Where will you have us go and prepare for you to eat the passover?" Mark 14:13 And he sent two of his disciples, and said to them, "Go into the city, and a man carrying a jar of water will meet you; follow him, Mark 14:14 and wherever he enters, say to the householder, 'The Teacher says, Where is my guest room, where I am to eat the passover with my disciples?' Mark 14:15 And he will show you a large upper room furnished and ready; there prepare for us." Mark 14:16 And the disciples set out and went to the city, and found it as he had told them; and they prepared the passover. Mark 14:17 And when it was evening he came with the twelve. Mark 14:22 And as they were eating, he took bread, and blessed, and broke it, and gave it to them, and said, "Take; this is my body." Mark 14:23 And he took a cup, and when he had given thanks he gave it to them, and they all drank of it. Mark 14:24 And he said to them, "This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many. Mark 14:25 Truly, I say to you, I shall not drink again of the fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it new in the kingdom of God." Mark 14:18 And as they were at table eating, Jesus said, "Truly, I say to you, one of you will betray me, one who is eating with me." Mark 14:19 They began to be sorrowful, and to say to him one after another, "Is it I?" Mark 14:20 He said to them, "It is one of the twelve, one who is dipping bread into the dish with me. Mark 14:21 For the Son of man goes as it is written of him, but woe to that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! It would have been better for that man if he had not been born." Mark 9:34 But they were silent; for on the way they had discussed with one another who was the greatest. Mark 10:42 And Jesus called them to him and said to them, "You know that those who are supposed to rule over the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great men exercise authority over them. Mark 10:43 But it shall not be so among you; but whoever would be great among you must be your servant, Mark 10:44 and whoever would be first among you must be slave of all. Mark 10:45 For the Son of man also came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many." Mark 14:29 Peter said to him, "Even though they all fall away, I will not." Mark 14:30 And Jesus said to him, "Truly, I say to you, this very night, before the cock crows twice, you will deny me three times." Mark 14:31 But he said vehemently, "If I must die with you, I will not deny you." And they all said the same. Mark 14:26 And when they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives. Mark 14:32 And they went to a place which was called Gethsemane; and he said to his disciples, "Sit here, while I pray." Mark 14:33 And he took with him Peter and James and John, and began to be greatly distressed and troubled. Mark 14:34 And he said to them, "My soul is very sorrowful, even to death; remain here, and watch." Mark 14:35 And going a little farther, he fell on the ground and prayed that, if it were possible, the hour might pass from him. Mark 14:36 And he said, "Abba, Father, all things are possible to thee; remove this cup from me; yet not what I will, but what thou wilt." Mark 14:37 And he came and found them sleeping, and he said to Peter, "Simon, are you asleep? Could you not watch one hour? Mark 14:38 Watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation; the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak." Mark 14:39 And again he went away and prayed, saying the same words. Mark 14:40 And again he came and found them sleeping, for their eyes were very heavy; and they did not know what to answer him. Mark 14:41 And he came the third time, and said to them, "Are you still sleeping and taking your rest? It is enough; the hour has come; the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners. Mark 14:42 Rise, let us be going; see, my betrayer is at hand." Mark 14:43 And immediately, while he was still speaking, Judas came, one of the twelve, and with him a crowd with swords and clubs, from the chief priests and the scribes and the elders. Mark 14:44 Now the betrayer had given them a sign, saying, "The one I shall kiss is the man; seize him and lead him away under guard." Mark 14:45 And when he came, he went up to him at once, and said, "Master!" And he kissed him. Mark 14:46 And they laid hands on him and seized him. Mark 14:47 But one of those who stood by drew his sword, and struck the slave of the high priest and cut off his ear. Mark 14:48 And Jesus said to them, "Have you come out as against a robber, with swords and clubs to capture me? Mark 14:49 Day after day I was with you in the temple teaching, and you did not seize me. But let the scriptures be fulfilled." Mark 14:50 And they all forsook him, and fled. Mark 14:53 And they led Jesus to the high priest; and all the chief priests and the elders and the scribes were assembled. Mark 14:66 And as Peter was below in the courtyard, one of the maids of the high priest came; Mark 14:67 and seeing Peter warming himself, she looked at him, and said, "You also were with the Nazarene, Jesus." Mark 14:68 But he denied it, saying, "I neither know nor understand what you mean." And he went out into the gateway. Mark 14:69 And the maid saw him, and began again to say to the bystanders, "This man is one of them." Mark 14:70 But again he denied it. And after a little while again the bystanders said to Peter, "Certainly you are one of them; for you are a Galilean." Mark 14:71 But he began to invoke a curse on himself and to swear, "I do not know this man of whom you speak." Mark 14:72 And immediately the cock crowed a second time. And Peter remembered how Jesus had said to him, "Before the cock crows twice, you will deny me three times." And he broke down and wept. Mark 14:65 And some began to spit on him, and to cover his face, and to strike him, saying to him, "Prophesy!" And the guards received him with blows. Mark 14:65 And some began to spit on him, and to cover his face, and to strike him, saying to him, "Prophesy!" And the guards received him with blows. Mark 15:1 And as soon as it was morning the chief priests, with the elders and scribes, and the whole council held a consultation; and they bound Jesus and led him away and delivered him to Pilate. Mark 14:61 But he was silent and made no answer. Again the high priest asked him, "Are you the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?" Mark 14:62 And Jesus said, "I am; and you will see the Son of man seated at the right hand of Power, and coming with the clouds of heaven." Mark 14:63 And the high priest tore his garments, and said, "Why do we still need witnesses? |

MATTHEW Matthew 26:2 "You know that after two days the Passover is coming, and the Son of man will be delivered up to be crucified." Matthew 26:3 Then the chief priests and the elders of the people gathered in the palace of the high priest, who was called Caiaphas, Matthew 26:4 and took counsel together in order to arrest Jesus by stealth and kill him. Matthew 26:5 But they said, "Not during the feast, lest there be a tumult among the people." Matthew 26:14 Then one of the twelve, who was called Judas Iscariot, went to the chief priests Matthew 26:15 and said, "What will you give me if I deliver him to you?" And they paid him thirty pieces of silver. Matthew 26:16 And from that moment he sought an opportunity to betray him. Matthew 26:17 Now on the first day of Unleavened Bread the disciples came to Jesus, saying, "Where will you have us prepare for you to eat the passover?" Matthew 26:18 He said, "Go into the city to a certain one, and say to him, 'The Teacher says, My time is at hand; I will keep the passover at your house with my disciples.'" Matthew 26:19 And the disciples did as Jesus had directed them, and they prepared the passover. Matthew 26:20 When it was evening, he sat at table with the twelve disciples; Matthew 26:26 Now as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed, and broke it, and gave it to the disciples and said, "Take, eat; this is my body." Matthew 26:27 And he took a cup, and when he had given thanks he gave it to them, saying, "Drink of it, all of you; Matthew 26:28 for this is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins. Matthew 26:29 I tell you I shall not drink again of this fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father's kingdom." Matthew 26:21 and as they were eating, he said, "Truly, I say to you, one of you will betray me." Matthew 26:22 And they were very sorrowful, and began to say to him one after another, "Is it I, Lord?" Matthew 26:23 He answered, "He who has dipped his hand in the dish with me, will betray me. Matthew 26:24 The Son of man goes as it is written of him, but woe to that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! It would have been better for that man if he had not been born." Matthew 20:25 But Jesus called them to him and said, "You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great men exercise authority over them. Matthew 20:26 It shall not be so among you; but whoever would be great among you must be your servant, Matthew 20:27 and whoever would be first among you must be your slave; Matthew 20:28 even as the Son of man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many." Matthew 26:33 Peter declared to him, "Though they all fall away because of you, I will never fall away." Matthew 26:34 Jesus said to him, "Truly, I say to you, this very night, before the cock crows, you will deny me three times." Matthew 26:35 Peter said to him, "Even if I must die with you, I will not deny you." And so said all the disciples. Matthew 26:30 And when they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives. Matthew 26:36 Then Jesus went with them to a place called Gethsemane, and he said to his disciples, "Sit here, while I go yonder and pray." Matthew 26:37 And taking with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, he began to be sorrowful and troubled. Matthew 26:38 Then he said to them, "My soul is very sorrowful, even to death; remain here, and watch with me." Matthew 26:39 And going a little farther he fell on his face and prayed, "My Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as thou wilt." Matthew 26:40 And he came to the disciples and found them sleeping; and he said to Peter, "So, could you not watch with me one hour? Matthew 26:41 Watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation; the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak." Matthew 26:42 Again, for the second time, he went away and prayed, "My Father, if this cannot pass unless I drink it, thy will be done." Matthew 26:43 And again he came and found them sleeping, for their eyes were heavy. Matthew 26:44 So, leaving them again, he went away and prayed for the third time, saying the same words. Matthew 26:45 Then he came to the disciples and said to them, "Are you still sleeping and taking your rest? Behold, the hour is at hand, and the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners. Matthew 26:46 Rise, let us be going; see, my betrayer is at hand." Matthew 26:47 While he was still speaking, Judas came, one of the twelve, and with him a great crowd with swords and clubs, from the chief priests and the elders of the people. Matthew 26:48 Now the betrayer had given them a sign, saying, "The one I shall kiss is the man; seize him." Matthew 26:49 And he came up to Jesus at once and said, "Hail, Master!" And he kissed him. Matthew 26:50 Jesus said to him, "Friend, why are you here?" Then they came up and laid hands on Jesus and seized him. Matthew 26:51 And behold, one of those who were with Jesus stretched out his hand and drew his sword, and struck the slave of the high priest, and cut off his ear. Matthew 26:52 Then Jesus said to him, "Put your sword back into its place; for all who take the sword will perish by the sword. Matthew 26:53 Do you think that I cannot appeal to my Father, and he will at once send me more than twelve legions of angels? Matthew 26:54 But how then should the scriptures be fulfilled, that it must be so?" Matthew 26:55 At that hour Jesus said to the crowds, "Have you come out as against a robber, with swords and clubs to capture me? Day after day I sat in the temple teaching, and you did not seize me. Matthew 26:56 But all this has taken place, that the scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled." Then all the disciples forsook him and fled. Matthew 26:57 Then those who had seized Jesus led him to Caiaphas the high priest, where the scribes and the elders had gathered. Matthew 26:69 Now Peter was sitting outside in the courtyard. And a maid came up to him, and said, "You also were with Jesus the Galilean." Matthew 26:70 But he denied it before them all, saying, "I do not know what you mean." Matthew 26:71 And when he went out to the porch, another maid saw him, and she said to the bystanders, "This man was with Jesus of Nazareth." Matthew 26:72 And again he denied it with an oath, "I do not know the man." Matthew 26:73 After a little while the bystanders came up and said to Peter, "Certainly you are also one of them, for your accent betrays you." Matthew 26:74 Then he began to invoke a curse on himself and to swear, "I do not know the man." And immediately the cock crowed. Matthew 26:75 And Peter remembered the saying of Jesus, "Before the cock crows, you will deny me three times." And he went out and wept bitterly. Matthew 26:67 Then they spat in his face, and struck him; and some slapped him, Matthew 26:68 saying, "Prophesy to us, you Christ! Who is it that struck you?" Matthew 27:39 And those who passed by derided him, wagging their heads Matthew 27:1 When morning came, all the chief priests and the elders of the people took counsel against Jesus to put him to death; Matthew 26:63 But Jesus was silent. And the high priest said to him, "I adjure you by the living God, tell us if you are the Christ, the Son of God." Matthew 26:64 Jesus said to him, "You have said so. But I tell you, hereafter you will see the Son of man seated at the right hand of Power, and coming on the clouds of heaven." Matthew 26:65 Then the high priest tore his robes, and said, "He has uttered blasphemy. Why do we still need witnesses? You have now heard his blasphemy. Matthew 26:66 What is your judgment?" They answered, "He deserves death." |
