The screen shot above shows an open Window in 'My Computer' which has been resized to fit over the EZ-Zip program window. You can make a Window smaller by clicking the button shaped like a square box in the upper right corner of the Window, or by placing the cursor over the edge of the Window until it is shaped like two horizontal arrows and then while holding down the left mouse button key, moving the mouse inward or outward until the Window is the desired size. You can move a window to a chosen position by holding the mouse button down on the 'colored title area' at the top of the Window and then begin moving the mouse. The window will follow. Release the mouse button to drop the window in the chosen position.

To DRAG AND DROP files into the Zip file window, place your mouse over the file or folder and then press down the left mouse button and without releasing the button begin moving the mouse to drag the file. Move the mouse anywhere on the white grid area in the bottom half of the zip program window and then release the left button to drop the file. The file will automatically be added to the next line of the grid.

You can also drag and drop multiple files, saving a few steps by adding them at the same time by holding down the CTRL KEY typically located on the lower left corner of your keyboard and then with the key held down, click on one file after another. When you select the last file, keep the left mouse button held down, and release the CTRL KEY and then without lifting the left mouse button, once again begin moving the mouse towards the white grid area. When your mouse is anywhere over the white grid release the left mouse button and all the files you selected will be dropped onto the grid and added one after another to lines on the grid automatically.

The SHIFT KEY, typically located just above the CTRL KEY, can also be used to select multiple files in rows and columns. Hold down the SHIFT KEY and the click the first file. If you are viewing Large Icons in the Window, move over to the end of the columns you want to select and move down the number of rows you want to select and the press the mouse over this file. This will highlighted a square region with the first file in the upper left corner of the square and the last file in the lower right corner of the square. Once again you can then release the SHIFT KEY and with the left mouse button still pressed down on the last file you selected begin moving the mouse to drag the files onto the grid. If you are viewing the window as a list of small icons, you can simply select the first file with the SHIFT KEY pressed, and then move to the last file in the series, without releasing the SHIFT KEY and press down the left mouse button and all the files up to that point will become highlighted., and once again you can drag them to the grid as described above.

To summarize then to DRAG AND DROP files in a Windows enviroment you only need to remember not to release the button (which cause a click event) but rather begin moving your mouse with the button still pressed. Releasing the mouse button after a mouse movement triggers the drop event. The CRTL and SHIFT keys are used to make multiple selections, with the rule being that both keys must be kept depressed until the last selection is made.
