Change Log (What's New)

June 15th/05 : The functions on the Create Zip files page are now properly 'threaded', which means that there is now a STOP button on the interface. You can halt long zip operations by pressing the stop button. However, this function still does not work for GZipped files (.GZ) and the only way to interrupt a GZ file is to shut down the program using the normal shut down button in the upper right corner. As well it is now not possible to change windows while an operation is in progress, which would create complications in the program, which would then raise an error message somewhere down the line.

June 1st/05 : It is now possible to add 'Tags' to zip files, which is a form of short comment that can help to indentify the contents of the zip file. A batch create function has now been added, which is useful if you need to create several large zip files. Compressing files uses almost all the CPU cycles, which makes multi tasking difficult. Using the Batch create function allows the computer to run unattended, creating compressed files, while the user is away from the machine. Pressinvg the 'Q' button on the Unzip page, will now move the current zip file onto the Queue, which can be convenient if you are using the Queue to keep track of a list of certain zip files.
May 27th/05 : The Queue function can now be toggled on and off on the Property Options menu. When the Queue function is off, and a new zip file is sent to the program, the program clears the screen and loads the new zip file (otherwise the old zip file would first be sent to the Queue). However if the Unzip program window is not selected and an item arrives, it will still be sent to the queue, even if the queue function is disabled. The program would not come to the top when this option was selected, this being a problem with some operating systems, and this has been worked on. It is now possible to have the program automatically load the Thumbnail image preview window when clicking files and searching for images. This option has been included on the Property Options page for images. It is now possible to add 'Tags' to zip files when they are created ('tags' are short identifying messages designed to make locating and identifying zip file contents easier - for example a tag might be 'vacation summer 2003 lake photos').
May 17th/05 : When a zip file is downloaded from the Internet, and is placed into a temporary file by your web browser, the zip file will be deleted when you shut down your browser, and the item on the Zip file Queue will become invalid. To prevent this from happening, the Easy Zip File program now makes temporary copies of these zip files. To clear the temporary zip files, you only need to clear the items from the Queue list (the temporary zip files will remain as long as the item remains on the queue list). It is also possible now to delete only selected items from the queue list.
May 12th/05 : Having more than one of the Unzip, Update, or Create zip file windows active at the same time causes some buggy problems. Now if you are in the Batch Unzip or Self Extracting zip window and you attempt to click back to one of these three windows you automatically return to an open window if it exists.
If you click the Unzip window while a file is loaded in the Update window, the file is moved to the Unzip Queue.
On the Explorer tree, if you switch from large icon, to small icon list display and open a new folder, the filenames may be truncated (not completely visible). To fix this it neccesary to click to large icon view and then back to small icon list view. This problem still has not been fixed, but this work around solves the issue.
May 12th/05 : Program no longer pops up automatically when items arive on the Queue unless a checkbox is checked on the first page of the properties menu. A few other adjustments and tweaks.
May 10th/05 : Fixed a bug that could occur on Program start involving loading the Queue.
Fixed a bug when clicking zip files contained within zip files.
Fixed a bug whereby sometimes a file would not open when in the Explorer tree.
The items on the Queue can now be moved to the batch Unzip Window to be batch processed.

April 22/05 : Added a Queue function, in particular for downloading from the internet. Files can be added to the Queue list for later processing. As well the program now reuses only one window for multiple files, which are now saved on the Queue. Added a Folder Filter function that allows the Zip Window to only display the contents of specified folders.

Feb. 17/05 :Latest program changes : fixed a bug in the Batch unzip facility, and reworked the Update functions.
