Using a calculator interface this program converts values between various different systems of measurement. A list of the conversions incorporated into the program follows below...
How the program works
The program is a simple executable. Just click the Calculator icon to run the program. If you prefer a link on the Windows Start menu to launch the program visit my Windows Start Menu tips page (also included in the zip file).
1. Enter a numerical value into the edit box on the left. You can use the keyboard, the number pad, or right click with your mouse and choose paste from the pop-up menu.
2. Press a button on the Tabbed Notebook to convert the number from a specified value to the indicated output value. The converted number will be displayed in the box on the right.
3. You can also choose the method of conversion from the pop-up list on the bottom right of the window.
4. The left precision setting controls the maximum number of digits on the left side of the number while the right selector controls the number of decimal places displayed.
5. To save each conversion in a text file, choose 'Save as File' from the File menu.
6. Checking the comma box will format the output with commas -> 1,000,000. You can also enter commas into the input box on the left.
7. You can enter fractions using the '/' button or keyboard key. -> 1/2
8. You can enter negative numbers by pressing the minus button or key. (Negative numbers don't always make sense. If you convert 'inches' using a negative value, the conversion will be correct but will be a negative number.)
9. Turn 'pop up hints' for the buttons on or off by clicking 'Show Hints' on the menu.
10. A small quantity might display as '0.0000'. Increase the right hand precision.

Conversion Calculator Software Download
The program can be downloaded by using the right mouse button and right clicking on the link and from the pop up menu choosing 'save link as' (Netscape) or 'save target as' (Internet Explorer) to save the file to your hard drive. (If your browser has a plug in to deal with zip files you can simply 'left click' on the link and save the file that way.) Version 3.0 of the program incorporates ABOUT 1200 conversions, is user expandable to incorporate more, and is described on this page Download the Version 3.0 of the program by clicking on this link -> convcalc.zip (~500 KB). Version one, described just above is a still on line and incorportes about 75 conversions, and does not have the user update feature of version 3.0, and is a smaller download.
