DEFENSE DEPT. CONFESSES "BOMBING RED CROSS ON PURPOSE" by Jefferson Smith

DEPT. OF DEFENSE ADMITS IT HAS BEEN LYING TO AMERICAN PUBLIC: NOW CONFESSES REPEATED BOMBING OF RED CROSS IN KABUL "ON PURPOSE"

Last night MSNBC TV reported some thirty times that our Dept. of Defense finally ADMITTED it targeted the Red Cross in Kabul ON PURPOSE on the two (or more) occasions we bombed them. Thus the Defense Dept. admitted it had been lying to the American public for weeks that it hit the Red Cross "in error". The Dept. of Defense offers the excuse that it was because the Taliban was "getting food" from it. Today this is NOWHERE in the media or internet (CNN, MSNBC, CBS, etc) and they stopped talking about it on TV.

But then I finally found the confession BURIED deep inside another story from today. As Chomsky said, "The news is out there, but it is only available to a fanatic" (willing to spend all their time searching for and unearthing it.) (Recent Chomsky on www.zmag.org ). This for me demonstrates the importance of the media issues FAIR www.fair.org dedicates itself to: What is the meaning of democracy when we make our choices based on false or no information?

First, this is the Dept. of Defense lie from last week saying the second bombing of the Red Cross was "also in error" just as supposedly we hit it the first time "in error". Note this section: "Although details are still being investigated, preliminary indications are that the warehouses were struck due to a human error in the targeting process," the Pentagon said in a statement. "Regarding the F/A-18C that inadvertently struck the residential area, initial indications are that the bomb's guidance system malfunctioned." :

Then after an exhaustive search, I found the lie exposed, buried deep inside another story from today. Note this section: "Acknowledging the strong concern from U.S. allies, Rumsfeld maintained that “responsibility for every single casualty in this war — be they innocent Afghans or innocent Americans — rests at the feet of Taliban and al-Qaida.” Meanwhile, new information came forward on why Red Cross warehouses were bombed repeatedly last week. NBC’s Miklaszewski said a senior U.S. military official now says they were bombed on purpose because the food was being stolen by Taliban troops."
