The latest spin on the Bin Laden video... Was the Bin Laden video a CIA sting Operation

Muslims make faked Bush tape. "Look! Muslims can fake video confessions as well. Look how easy it is to fabricate a video.. Look at this Bush video. In about 2 hours only, a high school student and I fabricated a video clipof Bush speaking. We were surprised how easy it was .. we changed what he said and addedsubtitles of the new talk ..Think how easy it would be for Hollywood professionals!!We made Bush say: "Thousands of Arab Americans who committed these actsand those who harbour them are held accountable .. make no mistake"In reality, Bush didn't say that .. but later in the tape in a part wehave not included excluded harming those "Thousands of Arab Americans wholove the American flag"So we have changed what's said to something elseWassalamu AlaikumOsama and the high school student - Sydney - Australia"A note about the video ... this is an 'asf' file and if your browser is not configured to handle asf files you will get garbage coming up on your browser window instead of a video. You also need a newer media player to view the file. You can right click on the link to their video and choose to 'save link as' or 'save target as' from the pop up menu to save the video file to your computer if you wish. You can then click the file on your computer to watch it, instead of getting garbage coming up on your browser.

'Poor quality' Bin Laden 'confession tape' surfaces

Bin Laden tape apparently not to be made public ... "Mr Cheney and others feel Mr bin Laden has had all the publicity he needs. Thus far, the camp of caution has prevailed. Washington has made purported evidence available to friendly governments on condition it is not made fully public." And Bin Laden tape sparks row ... ""We've not been eager to give the guy any extra television time," Mr Cheney said yesterday ... (The latest video) unlike an earlier video made on 20 October allegedly circulating in the Middle East that is said to demonstrate Mr bin Laden's guilt but of which Western investigators only saw English transcripts..."

And another angle on the same story 'Bin Laden has four doubles to confuse western intelligence' ... Dubai, October 7 ... "Osama bin Laden, the prime US terror suspect, uses doubles to confuse western intelligence agencies trying to track him down, an Afghan opposition leader said in an interview published on Sunday ... Several months ago, we received reports about the presence of four look-alikes of Osama in four different places in Afghanistan at the same time." And in another story Indian town orders bin laden lookalike out ... "BHUBANESHWAR, India -- An unemployed villager who looks like Saudi-born militant Osama bin Laden was ordered out of an Indian town after he started to draw crowds ... "The action was taken in good faith to prevent any kind of communal tensions," a local official told Reuters news agency on Tuesday." You know if, after repeated denials, and no evidence forthcoming, transcripts of nonexistent tapes, and spin doctored 'confessions', one must wonder if the man turned out to be stupid enough to be circulating for almost three months a grainy, low quality video 'confessing' to the September 11th attacks. Then there were those indestructible Muslim terrorists passports found at the WTC site, and other such things best forgotten. By the way, if it turned out the tape was genuine, that should mean there is no more need for military courts, lack of defense, summary executions and other such tools of totalitarian states, right, there finally being the kind of evidence that might actually stand up in a genuine court of law, right?

A previous 'I confess story' from November : Bin Laden's latest 'confession' tape a fraud : Apparently the 'tape' which was allegedly circulating around the Middle East and contained Bin Laden's 'confession' does not exist but rather the latest 'Bin Laden - I did it' story was based on a 'transcript' of the alleged tape released by the British government. Al Jazeera denies ever airing such a tape and no copy of the alleged tape has ever surfaced. Shortly after the release of the 'I did it' story by the Brits, Bin Laden gave another interview to the Pakistani press once again explicitly denying any involvement in the September 11th attacks. It is not surprising that the British government is so desperate for a 'confession tape' (even if they apparently have to rely on a so called 'transcipt' of the alleged tape) given that no evidence is forthcoming that would stand up in a court of law (thus the creation recently of new military courts which even Bush admits violate all previous standards of evidence and the right to defense).

A collection of links to stories that have appeared in the Pakistan English language paper 'Dawn' on the war in Afghanistan...

US atrocity against Taliban POWs: Whatever happened to the Geneva Convention : "The Geneva Convention was drawn up in the aftermath of World War II in an effort to place some restrictions on the murderous proclivities of the great powers. Today the Bush administration brazenly disregards international law and carries out war crimes, with barely a word of protest coming out of the US. In the absence of any significant international outcry against the massacre at Mazar-i-Sharif, there is the danger that an even bigger bloodbath will be perpetrated at Kandahar, the second largest city of Afghanistan, where several thousand US Marines and US Special Forces and their newly recruited (and well-paid) allies among the Pushtun tribal chiefs are closing in on the last Taliban stronghold."

Eye Witness to Massacre : "WHETHER it was incompetence, overconfidence or duty that prompted two CIA operatives to interrogate dozens of Taleban on their own will perhaps remain a mystery. But their decision triggered a revolt that became the single bloodiest engagement since the Afghan war began. The siege of Kala-i Janghi, the ancient mudbrick fortress near Mazar-i Sharif, ended yesterday when the last foreign Taleban of Konduz were wiped out. It began on Sunday morning, when the estimated 800 foreign fighters — Arabs, Pakistanis, Chechens and terrorists of the al-Qaeda network — imprisoned in the old fort suddenly turned on their outnumbered Northern Alliance captors. A witness said: “The fighting started when the Taleban were being questioned by two men from the CIA. They wanted to know where they had come from and whether they might be al-Qaeda.” "

Jackboots and swagger sticks? : a critique of the American Homeland Security Act...

Northern Alliance turns on British troops : "With an advance force of 100 Royal Marines surrounded by reportedly hostile Northern Alliance militia at the Bagram air base outside the capital, Kabul, the expected airlift of an initial 2,000 British troops into Afghanistan failed to materialise amid reports that British plans for a larger-scale deployment of up to 6,000 troops had been put in reverse."

Mujahideen back to 'rob and beat us' ; There is little sign that the return of the Mujahideen will bring freedom and prosperity to the people of this city. Five years ago, these same men brought chaos and violence. Now the fear is they are bringing it again ... The Mujahideen are determined to make the most of their opportunity. 'When there is a big victory it is right that everybody should share in it,' said Haziullah, a 28-year-old manning one of the roadblocks on the outskirts of the city. 'We have been waiting a long time for this.' But distributing the spoils is a vexed business. Within 24 hours of the Taliban retreating, six different commanders had led their fighters into the city. On Friday, in the palatial high-ceilinged rooms of the governor's house, they sat down to talk, but with little result. Yesterday, after 36 hours of volatile discussions, a jirga or traditional council, including 100 different groups had reached a fragile agreement."

Incessant US bombings leave hundreds dead ; "PESHAWAR, Nov 18: The Taliban surrounded in Afghanistan's northern Kunduz province agree to surrender before a UN-supervised neutral authority as incessant US bombings leave hundreds dead and wounded. "We have authorized the governor of the province to take necessary steps in this respect," Mulla Fazil, the Taliban's chief commander for Afghanistan's northern zone told Dawn by satellite telephone from Kunduz on Sunday night. He said that 800 people had died in one of the heaviest bombings on Kunduz in the last two days, and over 250 were killed in Khanabad district on Saturday, he said."

Carpet bombing kills 150 civilians in frontline town : "Terrified refugees fleeing the town of Khanabad yesterday told The Independent that American planes had bombed the area a few miles from Kunduz daily since Thursday, seemingly oblivious to the fact that the buildings they were bombing were civilian homes. All day yesterday, huge plumes of smoke rose from the hills on the front lines near the Taliban's last northern stronghold as B-52 bombers continued to drop their loads of bombs. "I saw 20 dead children on the streets," said Zumeray, one of the refugees. "Forty people were killed yesterday alone. I saw it with my own eyes. Some of them were burned by the bombs, others were crushed by the walls and roofs of their houses when they collapsed from the blast."

"The twin towers attacks provided Bush's Washington with both a trigger and a remarkable coincidence. Pakistan's former foreign minister Niaz Naik has revealed that he was told by senior American officials in mid-July that military action against Afghanistan would go ahead by the middle of October. The US secretary of state, Colin Powell, was then travelling in central Asia, already gathering support for an anti-Afghanistan war 'coalition'. For Washington, the real problem with the Taliban was not human rights; these were irrelevant. The Taliban regime simply did not have total control of Afghanistan: a fact that deterred investors from financing oil and gas pipelines from the Caspian Sea, whose strategic position in relation to Russia and China and whose largely untapped fossil fuels are of crucial interest to the Americans. In 1998, Dick Cheney told oil industry executives: 'I cannot think of a time when we have had a region emerge as suddenly to become as strategically significant as the Caspian.'" "Why, of course the people don't want war. Why should some poor slob on a farm want to risk his life in a war when the best he can get out of it is to come back to his farm in one piece? Naturally the common people don't want war; neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, it is the leaders of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country." I thought I might also include a few links from my Bible commentary page to forestall any insistence that 'we must go warring as taught by God in the Bible' (how blessed are the peacemakers, right, turn the other cheek, carrying the invading armies backpacks two miles for them if they ask you to carry them one mile, bless your enemies, do good to those who do wrong to you so that everyone will know you are children of God, and so on...words that are quickly forgotten while war verses are quickly remembered-I guess its called pragmatism)

A few words in response to the religious flame wars this site generates...

Now first, you are supposed to be a Christian, therefore, you would be the type to 'accept the Lord'

now in actual practice, 'accepting the Lord' means nothing, and in truth Christianity has always been a means of social control (the drive to create a totalitarian theocracy) and 'obeying the Lord' or 'being like Jesus' in practice meaning nothing

you see if you were like Jesus you would be repaying evil with good and doing other 'idealistic' things that Christians never do, not wanting to 'obey the Lord' or 'live like Jesus' after all, but rather, wanting to support the war hawks and right wing, turning aside from the teachings of the prophets, as alluded to in the posts above, getting away from that 'Jesus Christ' they don't want, to follow the condemned parts of the Bible instead, while of course insisting that the Bible is 'infallible' so they can nullify the prophets and Christ as well, and do what they want to do instead.

You see, there might be some 'teacher' or some tv sermonizer stirring up war fever and resisting the protestors and the peace makers, or some prophet out there prophecying war mongering, and of neccesity, nullifying the prophets who critiqued the war mongering and falsehoods of the Bible (see my previous posting for the links) but if you call yourself 'a follower of Jesus' who has 'accepted Jesus' and 'have Jesus living in you' YOU DON'T HAVE A CHOICE. You are a peacemaker if you want to be called the children of God, and if you are not a peacemaker, but rather a war monger instead, then while there may be other prophets who will see fit to call you 'the children of God' I certainly will not. YOU HAVE TO DO IT and if you do not practice what you preach then far from being called 'peacemakers, and the children of God, you will be called what you deserve to be called instead, and if you should try to 'save someone's soul' my advice to them is that they avoid you, consider you the blind trying to lead the blind, and so avoid falling into the same ditch you fell into ... YOU DON'T HAVE A CHOICE IN THE MATTER...YOU HAVE TO DO IT!

Therefore, not being peace makers, or those who do good to resist evil, they have not 'accepted the Lord', they are not 'like Jesus' and certainly do not have a 'holy spirit' or 'the mind of Christ' living within them, and therefore if they try to get you to 'accept Jesus' you should ignore them, because they don't practice what they preach and have never 'accepted Jesus' themselves, as their attitude proves. But then again they are constantly led astray by false prophets and false teachers, who themselves do everything they can to see that untruth and dishonesty prosper so that no one will become 'like Jesus' which is something that those prophets just don't want.

But to address the point more directly about 'what to do with the terrorism problem' you might want to consider being a peace maker (and so blessed like a child of God) by first, stopping your nation from bombing the hell out of other countries around the globe, and making so many enemies in the first place...you might want to fight for social justice and equality instead of protecting power and privilege because the desperation of grinding poverty is the seed bed of violence in the world (they aren't tearing each other apart in Sweden, now are they, or in France?

you people won't like this link anymore than the previous ones but you can consider the state terrorism practiced over the course of the last century and then ask yourself why you were safe and snug for as long as you were (the people you considered your enemies did not bomb you or attack you even though throughout the last century you killed millions of their civilians, so even though war propaganda tried to portray them as evil, as war propaganda always does, they were in fact rational people, or so it seems)

Do not touch the olive and the wine - hypocritical patriotism

you might also review your conduct over the last century by visiting this link

http://www.zmag.org/CrisesCurEvts/interventions.htm

and as for 'the spirit of prophecy' and 'accepting the Lord' and other such things you might consider visiting the links just above this post ... what those prophets said, they said, and no, we don't need any more of that dishonest and corrupt attempts to nullify their words passing as apologetics (but nullification in practice, the only reason we even need 'Christian apologetics' in the first place is that the Bible has been heavily edited and is inconsistent, as the prophets quoted above indicate, if you simply just read what they said and accept it, something Christians are just loathe to do, because then they would have to ditch all their former practices and become pe ace makers, like Christ, instead, or so it seems, the amount of flaming spam and downright corrupt dishonest such truth telling always engenders after all...)
