Who is God? Anyone who is familiar with the work of the Jewish prophets knows that God was called 'Yahweh' by them. Is Yahweh God? My answer would be well, yes, and and no. I will refer anyone interested to my story page. Can God get angry at someone. Yes. Can Yahweh be God. I would reply, yes, some of the time, but God is also the one who returns after a quarrel. Is there a little bit of Yahweh in our God. Yes, that would seem to be true, but God is not always Yahweh.
Anyone who has visited this site before might notice the name change. At one time I called the site 'A Witness to Yahweh'. The ancient Jewish people had a tradition of not mentioning the name of the deity. I do not hold to this tradition myself, however lately I have been going through a transition of some sort, and I have also been doing a lot of philisophical musing, and I have decided that a witness to ? might be more appropriate as a name for this site at the time being. And there is something to be said by for not assigning a name (and thus also narrowing the definition of what you are discussing). I have a lot of questions to address at this time, in my own thinking, and so '?' it is for the time being...I should note here that I get a lot of visitors looking for something about 'Yahweh' and this change isn't intended to be an offence to all those 'Yahweh' people out there. I have had a few experiences that I describe briefly (too briefly) on this site, so there will always be a little bit of Yahweh in me. However as I was working on this new idea I have to compile a commentary on the entire Bible I began to muse over some difficult philisophical questions, and as much as I admire their work, and find common ground with much of what they experienced and how they interpreted those experiences, these were questions that were never adequately addressed by the Yahweh school of prophets. I think I am growing up and growing out of a Yahweh phase of my life, although, when you consider life and difficult questions about God, if you believe in God, then it really is true that there will always be some Yahweh in God and some prophet of Yahweh in me. But this singular approach and the sense of limitation in the use of this term "Yahweh" all the time just does not seem adequate any more, and as I am writing this (on January 10th) I am working on some pieces that begin to address these philisophical questions I have, and in the process God has become '?' to me. I seem to be going through a phase, a growth phase (at least I hope it turns out to be a growth phase) where I want to address some hard questions and hopefully get a deeper understanding, and as such I do not want to be limited, or to be perceived as being limited (and is not perception everything) and so now, for all these reasons and more, there is this '?' where a name once was, and I believe, this is as it should be for now...
