Nuclear Attack virtually a certainty - "Investment guru Warren Buffett offered a bleak prediction for the nation's national security, saying a terrorist attack on American soil is "virtually a certainty." Envy and dislike of the United States have fueled rage against the country even as the ability to build a nuclear device has spread, Buffett said Sunday at the final day of Berkshire Hathaway Inc.'s annual meeting." The story then goes on to mention that while Buffet is heavily into the insurance industry, his businesses are not insuring for nuclear attacks.

Buffet offers an analysis of the 'root causes of terrorism' this being envious jealousy, which then leads to fury. Unfortunately, he did not offer a remedy or solution to this 'fury' provoked by 'jealousy' but if it should be the case that he considers acts of violence (kill as many of those people even perceived to bethreatening as possible) I would beg to differ, since this would only lead to more fury, and raise up so more 'terrorists', thus meaning that the trillion dollar defence budgets of the world will have to go even higher than they already are, so as to beat the planet to a bloody pulp and basically pound it into submission, or so one would hope anyways. This is the 'hawkish' solution, and the only problem with that right wing hawkish solution, is that it will only work if you do the full Atilla the Hun, if you do the completely full ultra hawk. All the world's greatest ultra hawks have always understood this. IN order for violence to have any hope of working as a solution the massacre will have to be tremendous, and indiscriminate as well, since 'terrorists' can hide among the people, the people must go as well. The Hun understood this, and so did the Khan, who would burn a city down and kill every single last man woman and child, this being his solution to his 'war on terrorism', terrorism in those days being any single act of sabotage or resistance to the tyranny of the Khan. Right now, the American people are not ready to do the full Hun on the planet, but a nuke might change things considerably, and indeed, American hawks in the defense department, true honest to God ultra hawks in the Pentagon, might even want to consider nuking the country themselves, when you consider the tremendous dividends even so much as one good nuking would do to the ultra hawk cause.

But to get back to the subject of the 'root cause of terrorism' let us first define what we mean by 'terrorism'. This is a grey fuzzy area. For example if some people bomb an American city flatter than a pancake, this would be terrorism I would suggest and most people would agree, however if the Pentagon bombs Hanoi flatter than a pancake its not, although if you lived in Hanoi and heard they were going to do that, understandably, you might call it terrorism. Remarkably, even though Washington practiced just exactly that very terrorism they fear so much themselves, not once over the last century did a country like Vietnam or Nicaragua or Indonesia and so and so on ever set off so much as a pipe bomb in an American city. What I am suggesting here is that alarmist portrayals of people in cartoon character like evil wickedness is not a reasonable description of human nature. While there is certainly such a thing as an extremely violent ultra hawk, as bloody history testifies, the worst of these mass murdering hawks being politicians, as history testifies, most people are not simplistic cartoon characters, they do not immediately resort to evil, sometimes not even after the worst provocations (take Vietnam as an example, where it certainly would have been warranted, turn about being fairplay and all that, but ever happened). Assigning a simplistic motivation like 'jealous envy' and a simple minded response of consequent 'fury' does in no way encapsulate the complexities of human behavior, nor does it do any service in the so called 'war on terrorism'.

But let's take the analogy a step further, and analyze another country targetted in the 'war on terrorism'. Once again, like Mr. Buffet, we will break the great taboo and begin discussing 'the root causes of terrorism' (while ducking the inevitable flying rotten tomatoes, this subject being taboo, and taboo for a reason after all). Now once again, we must avoid cartoon character simplifications, good only for preparing people for bombing as a solution after all (first they will need to be outfitted with a red devil suit and some horns). Now in Columbia, as in all the poorest countries of the world, there is a very small clique of families, and in Columbia they own 70 per cent of the best land, and just about everything else as well. Now in order for these very few families, such as the twelve or so who 'own El Salvador' to hang on to all their stuff that they got that time, well, much like in El Salvador they will require lots of terrorism, death squads, torturers, peasants being shot and then left exposed in big pits, you know to scare the other peasants and so on. Now getting back to Columbia, these oligarchs existed before the FARC, they were also terrorists from way back, being terrorists before the FARC became terrorists. No one, of course, is bombing them, because they are the 'creme de la creme' of Columbia, right. Now I just mention this 'root cause of terrorism' to bring to mind human motives, humanizing the FARC who are, after all, about to cartoon charactered into bright red devils and bombed to kingdom come, with American help, something characteristic of all this oligarchic terrorism, by the way. Lots of history there, by God, lots of water under the bridge. And thus, I suggest, if you want to understand that 'fury' well given that America can always be counted on to support the corruption and injustice of the planet, supplying all the black helicopters to keep it that way, there are many angered 'terrorists', simple cartoon character like horned red devils that they are, who see the only slim chance of freedom for humanity from their cruel overlords and the greedy tyrants who lord it over them, and dispossess them, well the only hope would then be to, as Buffet suggests, nuke that America right back to the stone age.

Now, having broken the taboo and discussed 'the root causes of terrorism' as it applies to United States, we can then begin to sensibly address the solution to the world's 'terrorism problem'. Now since violence started terrorism, and injustice corruption and such things fueled to a flame, it is obvious that violence is not going to solve the problem, having caused it in the first place after all. Violence could only work if Atilla the Ghenghis Khan Hitler comes to power and is willing to do the ultra right wing ultra hawk. In this time, Hitler might want to avoid burning down the Reichstag and just nuke America instead, while blaming it on terrorists, because that would probably work just perfectly. Now if we dispose of that disgusting sounding thing as a 'solution' (and it really is the only viable violent solution available-the only real military solution) well if ditch that thing we are left with the problem of justice, grinding poverty. As well the world went through its feudal age, and then its capitalist age. It would require huge amounts of violence to keep both those ages going, because there was injustice at the heart of these systems, which was the true cause of poverty, which was the true cause of terrorism. In addition the violence required cost untold trillions of dollars, trillions piled on trillions every year, year after year, with the biggest percetage of the budget spent on defense in the poorest countries, for obvious reasons, with of course, donations from America as well, which is why you are sitting there worrying about getting nuked now. Needless to say, throwing those trillions down the toilet did the planet no good, just left it as bad as ever, but at least it was crushed under a boot, for a while anyways, although you do find yourself worrying about that nuke after a time, planets only being stomped on by a boot for so long before people start deciding that it is worthwhile to commit suicide, and maybe take down a few buildings one at a time while doing it. They may not be able to build 'weapons of mass destruction' (which is wrong, as current rhetoric indicates) and they may be to poor to afford a world class military machine, but where there is a will there is a way. Once people get the idea into their heads that they are willing to commit suicide suddenly all sorts of possibilities open up to them that weren't there before. You can ask Israel, wasting its time doing the full Moses ultra hawk and calling that stupid thing a solution (creating the next generation of suicide bombers in the process simply because Sharon just won't do the religious right wing solution and just slaughter them all). You can also ask certain Americans, rationalizing away about 'envy' and offering this a an explanation of the 'root causes of terrorism' and the root cause of the 'anger against America'.
