This story is relevant today, for it is just one of so many examples that illustrate the point that truth is the first casualty of war fare, and that therefore you can never believe anything that you hear from the government, since they will lie, dissimulate, and cococt tall tales which will then be obediently repeated by the press, and perhaps uncritically accepted by the patriots. .
Today the American military and intelligence complex released another one of their covers stories, after another u2 spy plane went down, this time, so they say, in the United Arab Emirates. the plane, they say, was on routine mission over Afghanistan before the accidental crash took place. The story was obediently reported on the CNN site, as 'U-2 crashes upon return from Afghanistan mission'. The corrected title for this cover story released as a news story should more than likely read, 'U-2 crashes upon return from Iranian mission'..

As we came to know, one of the very first meetings held by the Bush administration, in the days following the first (s)election of 2000,, was convened to discuss the upcoming attack on Iraq (almost 8 months before the events of 9-11 made the attack more feasible, and found some, such as Donald Rumsfeld, agitating to use the attacks as a justification for a war against Iraq). The reality is that the US war with Iran has already begun. As we speak, American over flights of Iranian soil are taking place, using pilotless drones and other, more sophisticated, capabilities.
The violation of a sovereign nation's airspace is an act of war in and of itself. But the war with Iran has gone far beyond the intelligence-gathering phase.
President Bush has taken advantage of the sweeping powers granted to him in the aftermath of 11 September 2001, to wage a global war against terror and to initiate several covert offensive operations inside Iran.
The most visible of these is the CIA-backed actions recently undertaken by the Mujahadeen el-Khalq, or MEK, an Iranian opposition group, once run by Saddam Hussein's dreaded intelligence services, but now working exclusively for the CIA's Directorate of Operations.
It is bitter irony that the CIA is using a group still labelled as a terrorist organisation, a group trained in the art of explosive assassination by the same intelligence units of the former regime of Saddam Hussein, who are slaughtering American soldiers in Iraq today, to carry out remote bombings in Iran of the sort that the Bush administration condemns on a daily basis inside Iraq.
Perhaps the adage of "one man's freedom fighter is another man's terrorist" has finally been embraced by the White House, exposing as utter hypocrisy the entire underlying notions governing the ongoing global war on terror.

To the north, in neighbouring Azerbaijan, the US military is preparing a base of operations for a massive military presence that will foretell a major land-based campaign designed to capture Tehran.It is interesting to note that the Caucasus region, once formerly part of the southern Soviet Union, was referred to by Dick Cheney in 1998 as the 'most strategically significant' region in the world today. This is because these southern Muslim states of the old Soviet Empire currently have the largest untapped reserves of oil and gas remaining in the world. The region proved to be a contributing factor to the downfall of Adolph Hitler in the second world war, when, against the advice of his generals, Hitler insisted at the beginning of the conflict with Russia, in diverting forces to capture this region, and the end result was a Napoleonic disaster later on in the year, as the German troops were decimated outside Moscow by better equipped Russian forces, and permanently lost the advantage. Hitler's generals also advised against an attack against Russia for at least two or three years, but given that the only Superpower in the world at that time was Germany, Hitler insisted on going immediately to make use of the 'historical opportunity' presented to Germany. In a few years it might be to late. In a similar line of thinking, the Project for a New American Century, a think tank of hawks currently in power in Washington, spoke of America's 'historical opportunity', presented by the collapse of the Soviet Union, and the military weakness of all other world powers, including Europe, to launch a belligerent policy of imperialistic conquest. As the window threatened to close on this marvelous opportunity for American dominate the world for a century, the hawks tried desperate moves such as the Clinton fellatio impeachment attempt, and then in one great act of desperation, engineered the rigging and stealing of the Florida election in 2000, for, you see, you just cannot let such a great historical opportunity slip by.
CIA paramilitary operatives and US Special Operations units who are training with Azerbaijan forces to form special units capable of operating inside Iran for the purpose of intelligence gathering, direct action, and mobilising indigenous opposition to the Mullahs in Tehran.
But this is only one use the US has planned for Azerbaijan. American military aircraft, operating from forward bases in Azerbaijan, will have a much shorter distance to fly when striking targets in and around Tehran.
In fact, US air power should be able to maintain a nearly 24-hour a day presence over Tehran airspace once military hostilities commence.
No longer will the United States need to consider employment of Cold War-dated plans which called for moving on Tehran from the Persian Gulf cities of Chah Bahar and Bandar Abbas. US Marine Corps units will be able to secure these towns in order to protect the vital Straits of Hormuz, but the need to advance inland has been eliminated.
A much shorter route to Tehran now exists - the coastal highway running along the Caspian Sea from Azerbaijan to Tehran.
Currently Washington is 'fighting international terror', or then again, perhaps they are bringing democracy and freedom to the world, which is the new tune being sung for the second administration (once again stolen using those squirrely voting machines that leave no paper trail, because, you see, it would be a shame to miss such a glorious historical opportunity). While Washington is bringing to glories of Democracy to Iraq, the administration wasted no time sending in troops to establish bases in the former southern Soviet Union, the source of all that Oil and Gas, and has been building pipe lines out of the region, which head, naturally to the west, rather than south to the Indian Ocean, and then on to China and India, two other rising rival powers who are desperate for O-I-L as well. But alas, given the historical situation, and how far behind India and China are in the military sense, it would seem they will have to go looking for scraps that fall from the table, as the sole superpower makes hay while the sun shines, you might say.
It is worth noting here that the regimes in the Southern Soviet Union territory, currently partners in the war on terror, are some of those super weird tyrant states, where the statues and pictures of the glorious leader are seen everywhere, and torture and state terror are rampant. This proves to be no problem, since America can't be everywhere, since occupation troops are currently guarding Wall Street investments in close to 140 countries already. Therefore the American troop presence in these tyrant states is small, and Washington is relying on the tyrannical systems already in place to crush the population and maintain order while the oil begins flowing out through those pipelines. Democracy, in this case, would be inconvenient, since it would lead to another Bolivia, or Venezuela, two countries that also have O-I-L and G-A-S, but which unfortunately also have populist activism, and thus, apparently, according to Washington, need more of that same 'Democracy' Washington has been bringing to other O-I-L and G-A-S nations, and will soon be bringing to Iran (that wonderful gift of Democracy for the people of Iran, the real reason for the sudden change in the propaganda tune during the second administration, since it would be stupid to promise to save Iranians from terrorists, or accuse Iranians of being terrorists, who thus needed invasion, but they do need Democracy, and so that will be the reason).
The clearest sign of an upcoming attack on Iran is this sudden change in military propaganda coming out of the Bush administration at the beginning of the second term. You hear a lot more about 'Democracy' now, and less about 'terrorism' since Iraq is now a done deal, and upcoming is Iran, which requires something different if the historical opportunity to nail down the conquest of Iran is not to be tragically missed. This becomes especially important when you consider that Iran is signing deals to do bad things like sell O-I-L and G-A-S to India and China, those two rising powers (as Bush called China in one of his state of the Union addresses, 'america's strategic rival', referring here to China's growing thrist for O-I-L, which, tragically for China, is not matched by China's military power, thus creating a great historical opporutnity for Washington).
Anyone of thinks that Bush will not attack Iran does not know Bush. When Bush ran for Congress in Texas back in the late 1970s, one of his campaign themes was that Social Security would be broke within ten years, if something was not done, that something being, of course, to privatize the system. And of course the attack on Iraq was planned long before he got in and so is the policy against Iran, which has been simmering for a long time, Iran being the original member of the Axis of Evil, and acting more and more evil all the time by signing big contracts to sell all their O-I-L and G-A-S to India, and in particular that evil rival, China. Bush policies are carved in stone, and they never change. Public opinion has no effect on the man, neither does crisis or even disaster. This is what the religious right admires in the man, the fact that he is one of those 'strong leaders', the 'Feuhrer type', when actually he is just really stubborn and a true ideologue, and ultra capitalist, the capitalist's capitalist, and like Reagan, he just hates the New Deal and taxes and programs, not to mention inheritance taxes, which is something that will really benefit him personally, when his parent's die, and now, given his recently passed policy on not taxing rich estates, will mean that George will be getting extra rich when mom and dad are gone. (So we can see American policy being driven by more than a little bit of self interest here as well, not to forget the self interest of those elite have mores of America, the capitalists, who are the true political base of George Bush, and who stand to benefit the most from the riches of the world which due to historical developments, are now passing into the hands of the American Imperial Empire, being built by that great historical figure, George Bush, an empire of the richest oil and gas producing region remaining on earth, and soon to include Iran as well, if everything goes as planned, and nothing spins out of control or anything...and then there remains that problem with the tyrant Chavez in V enezuela, and the 'collapse of Democracy' that keeps happening in Bolivia, but first things first...
