The Quick Study Show, Tuesday April 23, 2002
The topic today was the terrible religious violence practiced by the heathenish types, with a focus on the terrible nature of the high places. This is all an exageration, as the type of extreme violence described on the show (justifying no doubt the genodicides of the Bible) was not actually Characteristic of these times, and is not preached by historians, only by Christian apologetics for the reason I just mentioned. Which brings us to the terrible and hideous violence of Bible religion, which was okay, for the reasons mentioned above. Ever notice how God never gets violent, only religious people do that (on God's orders of course, as you can tell by reading their violent stories about violent religious people being really violent, thus doing what a God wanted done, and being a God, could have done personally, but never did, for reasons never quite explained clearly by violent religious people, whose philosophy is full of holes but never mind). However this can papered over by pointing how devilish and evil these violent religions were, thus of course, justifying violent and devilish responses by the righteous, thus justifying the Bible, of course, which is what all this sort of thing is about in the end. As for the high places, these were condemned by priests, in later times, when Priests wrote the Torah. A day or two ago it was pointed out about the great sins of Solomon, one of which was going up to the high places, much like Samuel, who is not condemned, but was rather a 'remarkable prophet', because the Bible says he was, not because he was or wasn't based on 'going up to the high places', which is really irrelevant, because what matters is what the Bible says, even if the Bible can't seem to make up its mind. This reminds of the other day when we heard all about David's great heroes, remarkable men, whose claim to fame is that they were violent in the religious way, and moved up the ranks based on their violent deeds, which of course, were just remarkable, with the greatest of the great having the highest body count, in the name of God, of course, which is why it was spectacular to say the least. There are many wonderful lessons we can learn from David's great heroes, one of which is that you should never wait around for God to bump off the evil religious people, but should just do it yourself, otherwise you would be waiting forever. This provides many lessons for people in their daily lives, who do after all face evil Philistines they need to conquer everyday, but given that they are Christians now, they probably shouldn't resort to extreme violence and murder, except maybe on the West bank, against the Palestinians, where it is wonderful, being done after all by (quote unquote) 'the wonderful nation of Israel'. Myself I would prefer to be a prophet to that 'wonderful wonderful nation of Israel' about whom prophets just can never say enough, as anyone who ever read a prophet would know, with one of their biggest themes being the the never ending violence of Israel , which was wonderful and should be done more and more, as anyone who ever read a prophet would know. Other relevant links : Samuel goes up to the high places and was also a great, great man of God. David also does lots of illegal things that priests later wrote down in the Torah were very illegal, stepping on the toes of those Levites and their priveleges after all, thus causing the Levites to write the Torah and sign it with the name of Moses (see the link to Jeremiah Jeremiah rejects Leviticus and the Moses myth). You can also read more about the terrible violence of violent religion, so roundly condemned today, by consulting the following page of extremely disgusting violence, which must be justified somehow, and given that such violence is never done by God, who could have done it but didn't, this will require lots of apologetics. Lots of apologetics. Tons in fact. Extremely violent religion in the Bible - which was okay, of course, because it was for a holy cause, and had to be done because of the extreme violence being done at the high places, which was wrong. Very wrong. Just terrible in fact. Very violent stuff going on in those high places. Just awful. Required an extremely violent religious response.
