The Gospel of Thomas 67 Yeshua said, "Whoever knows everything but is lacking within is lacking in everything." 68 Yeshua said, "Blessed are you when you are hated and persecuted. Wherever you have been persecuted they will find no place." 69 Yeshua said, "Blessed are those who have been persecuted within their hearts: they have truly come to know the Living One. Blessed are those who are hungry, for the stomach of those who hunger will be filled." 70 Yeshua said, "If you bring forth what is within you, what you have brought forth will save you. If you do not bring that from within you, what you do not bring forth will kill you." 71 Yeshua said, "I shall destroy this house, and no one will be able to rebuild it." 72 Someone said to him, "Order my relatives to divide my father's property with me." He answered, "Who made me the divider?" He turned to his disciples and asked them, "Am I a divider?" 73 Jesus said, "The harvest is great but the laborers are few, so pray to God to send out workers for the harvest. He said, "Many are around the well, but there is no water in the well." Yeshua said, "Many are standing by the door, but it is the solitary who will enter the wedding chamber." 74 Yeshua said, "The kingdom of the Living One is like a merchant who had a supply of merchandise, and then found a pearl. Now the merchant was shrewd and so he sold the merchandise and bought only the pearl for himself. So you should also seek after the treasure that is unfailing and which endures, where no moth comes to devour, and no worm destroys." 75 Yeshua said, "I am the light that is over everyone. l am the all: from me all came forth, and all attained to me. Split a piece of wood, and I am there. Pick up a stone, and you will find me there." 76 Yeshua said, "Why have you come out to the countryside? To see the grass blowing in the wind? To see a person dressed in rich clothing, like your kings and your rich men? They are dressed in fine garments, but they are unable understand the truth." 77 A woman in the crowd cried out to him, "Blessed is the womb that bore you and the breasts that suckled you." He replied to her, "Blessed are those who have heard the word of the Living One and have truly kept it. For the time will come when people will say, 'Blessed are the wombs that have never conceived and the breasts that have not suckled. 78 Yeshua said, "Whoever has come to know the world has discovered the body, and whoever has discovered the body is worth more than the world." 79 Yeshua said, "Let one who is wealthy reign as a king, and let the one who has power renounce it." 80 Yeshua said, "Anyone who is near to me is close to the fire, and whoever is far from me is far from the kingdom." 81 Jesus said, "Images can be seen by people, but the light within is hidden in the image of light of the Living One. The Living One will be revealed, but this image is will remain hidden by this light." 82 Jesus said, 'When you your likeness, you are happy. But when you see your images that came into being before you, and which neither die nor are manifested, how much you will you be able to bear!" 83 Yeshua said, "Adam was born from great power and great wealth, but he was not worthy of you. For if he had been worthy, he would not have experienced death." 84 Yeshua said, "Foxes have dens and birds have nests, but the Child of Humanity has no place to lay his head and rest." 85 Yeshua said, "Miserable is the body that depends on a body, and wretched is the soul that depends on these two." 86 Yeshua said, "The angels and the prophets will come to you and give you what belongs to you (what you already have). You should, as well, give them what you have, and say to yourselves, 'When will they come and take what is theirs?'" 87 Yeshua said, "Why do you wash the outside of the cup? Do you not understand that the one who made the inside also made the outside?" 88 Yeshua said, "Come to me, for my yoke is easy and my lordship is mild, and you will find rest for yourselves." 89 They said to him, "Tell us who you are so that we can believe in you." He answered them, "You can read the face of the sky and the earth, but you have not recognized the one who is before you, and you do not know how to study this moment." 90 Yeshua said, "Seek and you will find. In former times I did not answer all the questions you were asking then. Now I am willing to tell you, but you no longer wish to ask. 91 "Do not give what is holy to dogs, for they will drop it on a manure pile. Do not throw pearls to swine, lest they grind them down." 92 Yeshua said, "Whoever seeks will find, whoever knocks will be let in." 93 Yeshua said, "If you have money, do not lend it out to receive interest. Instead lend it to someone who will not pay it back." 94 Yeshua said, "The kingdom of the Living One is like a woman who took some yeast, concealed it in dough, and then made large loaves of bread. Anyone who has ears should listen." 95 Yeshua said, "The kingdom of the Living One is like a woman who was carrying a jar full of flour. While she was walking on a road far from her house, the handle of the jar broke and the flour emptied behind her on the road. She did not know it: she had not noticed that anything was wrong.. When she reached her house, she set the jar down and realized that it was empty." 96 Jesus said, "The kingdom of the Living One is like someone who wanted to kill a powerful person. He drew his sword in his house and thrust it into a wall to find out whether his hand was strong enough to go through. Then he killed the powerful one." 97 The disciples said to him, "Your brothers and your mother are standing outside." He said to them, "Those here who do the will of my Father are my brothers and my mother. They are the ones who will enter the kingdom of the Living One." 98 They showed Yeshua a gold coin and said to him, "Caesar's people demand that we pay taxes." He answered them, Give to Caesar what is Caesar's, and give to God what is God's, and give to me what is mine. 99 "Whoever does not hate their father and their mother as I do cannot be my disciple, and whoever does not love their father and their mother as I do cannot be my disciple. For my mother (gave me lies) but my true mother gave me life." 100 Yeshua said, "Woe to the Pharisees, for they are like a dog sleeping in the cow's manger; the dog does not eat itself, and neither will allow the cow to eat." 101 Yeshua said, "Blessed is the one who knows where the robbers will break in. Then the person may get ready, gather everyone on the estate together, and prepare for battle before the robbers break in." 102 They said to him, "Come, today we should pray and fast." Yeshua answered, "What is the sin which I have committed, by which I have been overcome? Instead, when the bridegroom leaves the wedding chamber, then let them fast and pray." 103 Yeshua said, 'Whoever acknowledges their father and mother will be called the bastard child." 104 Yeshua said, "When you make the two into one, you will become children of humanity, and when you say, 'Mountain, move!' it will move. 105 Yeshua said, "The kingdom is like a shepherd who had a hundred sheep. One of them, the largest, wandered off. The shepherd left the ninety-nine and searched for that one sheep until finally it was found. Having already gone to such trouble, the shepherd said to the sheep, 'I love you more than the ninety-nine.'" 106 Yeshua said, "Whoever drinks from my mouth will become like me, and I myself shall become that person, and the hidden things will be revealed to that person." 107 Jesus said, "The kingdom is like a person who had a hidden treasure in a field without knowing it. After death, the owner left the field to a child. The child did not know about the treasure, but took possession of the field and sold it. The person who purchased it went plowing and unearthed the treasure, and began to lend money at interest to whomever the new owner wished." 108 Yeshua said, "Anyone who finds the world, and becomes wealthy, let them renounce the world." 109 Yeshua said, "The heavens and the earth will roll up before your eyes, but whoever is living within the Living One will not see death or experience fear." 110 Yeshua says, 'Whoever finds self is superior to the world." 111 Yeshua said, "Woe to the body that is dependent on the soul! Woe to the soul that depends on the flesh!" 112 His disciples said to him, "When will the kingdom come?" "It will not come by looking for it. There is no point in saying,, 'Look, over here!' or 'there it is, over there!' Rather, the kingdom of the Living One is spread out on the earth, but people do not see it." 113 Simon Peter said to them, "Let Mary leave us, because women are not worthy of life." Yeshua said, "Behold, I shall guide her so as to make her male, that she too may become a living spirit like you men. For every woman who makes herself male will enter the kingdom of heaven." |

The Canonical Gospels Matthew 5:11 "Blessed are you when men revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. Matthew 5:12 Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so men persecuted the prophets who were before you. Luke 6:22 "Blessed are you when men hate you, and when they exclude you and revile you, and cast out your name as evil, on account of the Son of man! Luke 6:23 Rejoice in that day, and leap for joy, for behold, your reward is great in heaven; for so their fathers did to the prophets. Matthew 5:6 "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied. Matthew 5:8 "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God. Luke 6:21 "Blessed are you that hunger now, for you shall be satisfied. "Blessed are you that weep now, for you shall laugh. Mark 14:58 "We heard him say, 'I will destroy this temple that is made with hands, and in three days I will build another, not made with hands.'" Luke 12:13 One of the multitude said to him, "Teacher, bid my brother divide the inheritance with me." Luke 12:14 But he said to him, "Man, who made me a judge or divider over you?" Matthew 9:37 Then he said to his disciples, "The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; Matthew 9:38 pray therefore the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest." Matthew 13:45 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant in search of fine pearls, Matthew 13:46 who, on finding one pearl of great value, went and sold all that he had and bought it. Matthew 6:20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust consumes and where thieves do not break in and steal. Luke 12:30 For all the nations of the world seek these things; and your Father knows that you need them. Luke 12:31 Instead, seek his kingdom, and these things shall be yours as well. Matthew 11:7 As they went away, Yeshua began to speak to the crowds concerning John: "What did you go out into the wilderness to behold? A reed shaken by the wind? Matthew 11:8 Why then did you go out? To see a man clothed in soft raiment? Behold, those who wear soft raiment are in kings' houses. Luke 7:24 When the messengers of John had gone, he began to speak to the crowds concerning John: "What did you go out into the wilderness to behold? A reed shaken by the wind? Luke 7:25 What then did you go out to see? A man clothed in soft clothing? Behold, those who are gorgeously appareled and live in luxury are in kings' courts. Luke 7:26 What then did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and more than a prophet. Luke 11:27 As he said this, a woman in the crowd raised her voice and said to him, "Blessed is the womb that bore you, and the breasts that you sucked!" Luke 11:28 But he said, "Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and keep it!" Luke 23:29 For behold, the days are coming when they will say, 'Blessed are the barren, and the wombs that never bore, and the breasts that never gave suck!' Matthew 8:20 And Jesus said to him, "Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man has nowhere to lay his head." Luke 9:58 And Jesus said to him, "Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man has nowhere to lay his head." Luke 11:39 And the Lord said to him, "Now you Pharisees cleanse the outside of the cup and of the dish, but inside you are full of extortion and wickedness. Luke 11:40 You fools! Did not he who made the outside make the inside also? Matthew 11:28 Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. John 9:36 He answered, "And who is he, sir, that I may believe in him?" Luke 12:54 He also said to the multitudes, "When you see a cloud rising in the west, you say at once, 'A shower is coming'; and so it happens. Luke 12:55 And when you see the south wind blowing, you say, 'There will be scorching heat'; and it happens. Luke 12:56 You hypocrites! You know how to interpret the appearance of earth and sky; but why do you not know how to interpret the present time? Luke 12:57 And why do you not judge for yourselves what is right?" Matthew 7:6 Do not give dogs what is holy; and do not throw your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under foot and turn to attack you. Matthew 7:7 Ask, and it will be given you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. Matthew 7:8 For every one who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. Luke 11:9 And I tell you, Ask, and it will be given you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. Luke 11:10 For every one who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. Luke 6:34 And if you lend to those from whom you hope to receive, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners, to receive as much again. Luke 14:12 He said also to the man who had invited him, "When you give a dinner or a banquet, do not invite your friends or your brothers or your kinsmen or rich neighbors, lest they also invite you in return, and you be repaid. Luke 14:13 But when you give a feast, invite the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind, Luke 14:14 and you will be blessed, because they cannot repay you. You will be repaid at the resurrection of the just." Matthew 13:33 He told them another parable. "The kingdom of heaven is like leaven which a woman took and hid in three measures of flour, till it was all leavened." Luke 13:20 And again he said, "To what shall I compare the kingdom of God? 21 It is like leaven which a woman took and hid in three measures of flour, till it was all leavened." Matthew 12:46 While he was still speaking to the people, behold, his mother and his brothers stood outside, asking to speak to him. Matthew 12:48 But he replied to the man who told him, "Who is my mother, and who are my brothers?" Matthew 12:49 And stretching out his hand toward his disciples, he said, "Here are my mother and my brothers! Matthew 12:50 For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother, and sister, and mother." Mark 3:31 And his mother and his brothers came; and standing outside they sent to him and called him. Mark 3:32 And a crowd was sitting about him; and they said to him, "Your mother and your brothers are outside, asking for you." Mark 3:33 And he replied, "Who are my mother and my brothers?" Mark 3:34 And looking around on those who sat about him, he said, "Here are my mother and my brothers! Mark 3:35 Whoever does the will of God is my brother, and sister, and mother." Mark 12:13 And they sent to him some of the Pharisees and some of the Herodians, to entrap him in his talk. Mark 12:14 And they came and said to him, "Teacher, we know that you are true, and care for no man; for you do not regard the position of men, but truly teach the way of God. Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar, or not? Mark 12:15 Should we pay them, or should we not?" But knowing their hypocrisy, he said to them, "Why put me to the test? Bring me a coin, and let me look at it." Mark 12:16 And they brought one. And he said to them, "Whose likeness and inscription is this?" They said to him, "Caesar's." Mark 12:17 Jesus said to them, "Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's." And they were amazed at him. Luke 20:22 Is it lawful for us to give tribute to Caesar, or not?" Luke 20:23 But he perceived their craftiness, and said to them, Luke 20:24 "Show me a coin. Whose likeness and inscription has it?" They said, "Caesar's." Luke 20:25 He said to them, "Then render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's." Luke 20:26 And they were not able in the presence of the people to catch him by what he said; but marveling at his answer they were silent. Matthew 10:37 Whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; and whoever loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me; Matthew 10:38 and whoever does not take their cross and follow me is not worthy of me. Luke 14:26 "If any one comes to me and does not hate their own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even their own life, they cannot be my disciple. Matthew 24:43 But know this, that if the householder had known in what part of the night the thief was coming, he would have watched and would not have let his house be broken into. Luke 12:39 But know this, that if the householder had known at what hour the thief was coming, he would not have left his house to be broken into. Matthew 18:12 What do you think? If a man has a hundred sheep, and one of them has gone astray, does he not leave the ninety-nine on the mountains and go in search of the one that went astray? Matthew 18:13 And if he finds it, truly, I say to you, he rejoices over it more than over the ninety-nine that never went astray. Luke 15:3 So he told them this parable: Luke 15:4 "What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he has lost one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness, and go after the one which is lost, until he finds it? Luke 15:5 And when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing. Luke 15:6 And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and his neighbors, saying to them, 'Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost.' Luke 17:20 Being asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God was coming, he answered them, "The kingdom of God is not coming with signs to be observed; 21 nor will they say, 'Lo, here it is!' or 'There!' for behold, the kingdom of God is in the midst of you." |
