As I was composing this page, I once again had another hack attempt take place on my computer (24.214.87.48-knology.net source port --> 2544, destination port --> 27374). With the proliferation of kiddy scanners, windows based GUI type hacking tools, this sort of things happpens all the time. For some resources on the meaning of port probes, consider visiting Firewall Forensics - What am I seeing. The site also has an extensive list of further links to follow. From what I have heard, Zone Alarm is one of the better firewalls. Not only is it easy to use, it also cannot be tricked by 'application name spoofing' (you give permission to your browser, for example, to go through the firewall, and next you know a virus named after your browser comes through the firewall.)
I am a subscriber to the NetSurfer Digest. They usually have an interesting and eclectic collection of links to interesting sites on the web, so I usually do some surfing off of the links on their e-zine. I mentioned a few days ago that there was plug for my site in another e-zine, published by the Cosmiverse site, which caught me by surprise, since it was a 'scientific' site, although I suppose their interest in the SETI project might explain the plug. Well, you can imagine my surprise last night when I cracked open the most recent edition of the Netsurfer Digest and found, near the top of the page, a mention of my site...
as if some higher power were telling me
Once upon a time, those who told people that gods spoke to them were made oracles or prophets and wielded great power. Then came a time when they were stoned or burned or crucified by those who had power and didn't feel like sharing. Now, people just ignore and marginalize them, seeing them not so much as touched as touched in the head. Brent Herbert hopes to change that. Brent claims to have seen UFOs and heard God, and he has enrobed his claims in precise, diligent Bible criticism. You may not agree with Brent. You may not believe him. Maybe you will. Regardless, if you have any interest at all in religious debate, you just might find yourself up till all hours of the night wading through the reams of information he presents.

It was very generous of them mention my site, and I really appreciated the carefully worded description. As I said, that was a real surprise, a great shock, but I do appreciate it. They really do have some reach on the Internet.

A reader of my site sent in the following email, which I found interesting because it describes differences in how other people perceive my experiences (he believes me, but perceives things differently). This sort of correspondance interests me, since I often find the reactions of others to be enigmatic, and would like more feedback on these sorts of things, as I mentioned briefly the other day. He took great pains to say, 'just my opinion', which leads me to believe that he might have that bit of a cranky reponse I gave to someone with Web name 'QCoptic" on my message board the other day. Let's just say that any attempt to suggest that the Bible is not contradictory is something that provokes me lately, and so I was a little cranky on the message board for that reason, and I also found the post to be enigmatic, and assumed that this was another example of 'misdirection' (saying one thing, while actually wanting to say something else). I promise not to bite anyone's head off for expressing their opinions, but I would prefer that people are direct, and I will try to bite my tongue if someone 'wastes my time' with 'infallibly inerrant' Bible type arguments. I will wait until I cool down and then just give a short reasonable answer to such questions in the future...
Well there as I, searching for a site that could help me get (more) information on how contacting my guardian angel, when I ended on your page. But first, things first, right? I´m from Portugal, Lisbon and I felt compelled to read what you witnessed. Let me tell you, that I love all that has to do with the paranormal. I´m a curious reader of all kinds of things (related with paranormal facts), and I can tell you I know a few things about UFO´s...In a certain way, I envy you, for I only glimpsed one, one time. Anyway, I´m writing to tell you my opinion of course, it´s just an opinion, so give just the credit a opinion deserves... First thing: although 95% of Portugal´s population is catholic, I´m not. I´m Buddhist, but still believe in the spirits: the demonic, angelic and the elemental spirits; like the Celts and the Christians. As so I don´t believe God as spoken to you, or gave you any signs, or made any roarings. For what I have read, and for what I know about it, I think the aliens did it(all)!!! In fact if I were to bet, I would say you were kidnaped by then probably more than one time!!! No one knows for sure their intentions, but most people (who were abducted) feels that they are using, perhaps unorthodox methods, but strictly necessary, in order to avoid a terrible danger to mankind in a near future-this could mean creating an hybrid species (half human-half alien) or teaching unconsciously people to drive their spaceships, or even transmute our genes. What I know is that they have been near you as long as you have born, right? Perhaps you should contact a specialized psychologist in alien abduction. He could tell you if you had been abducted under hypnosis.-I seriously believe that God (or even an guardian angel) did not speak telepathically with you, as I seriously believe as they (the aliens) can do it. And believe me, they do, thousands of people around the world may confirm it. This may shock your formed opinion that you made throughout the years... Well, many people still don´t believe in it, because they never saw it, what brings the fact that we must have an opened mind for even the most incredible things. I would like to hear from you, about what you think of this.
I have been pondering how to answer your questions, and you consider this to be a preliminary response, and any further correspondance you wish to send on this matter would be welcome.
First, as to hypnosis and abduction, I remember everything that happened to me, and thus I do not need hypnosis. Recently I posted some info with interviews with Betty Hill, 'the grandmother of abductees'. In one interview she mentioned that she joked about finding weeds in her garden, and blamed them on aliens, and then for the following months rumours were flying around the UFO community of strange alien plants being found in people's gardens, having been dropped off by some aliens. (This I interpret as a deep longing people have to somehow feel connnected to this experience.) In another interview she comments on how each UFO investigator who uses hypnosis always achieves the same results with each subject (for example one investigator might find that every woman was impregnated, another might find that in every case such and such a thing happened, and, as she points out, the results are determined by who is doing the hypnosis, so I agree with her conclusion that these results are driven by the investigators, and hypnosis is of limited value in UFO research). But like I said, I remember everything and don't require hypnosis, and as for abductions, one of the unfortunate things about that UFO letter of mine that was printed in CUFOR in 1975 is that immediately after I noted that 'I went to bed in a stupor', the letter would have continued with the story of my laying in my sleeping bag in the tent trailor, listening to the approaching sound of footsteps crunching on the gravel, and then the sound of the tent zipper going up, and I won't bother going on about it now. (You see, I still practice some 'self censorship' right to this very day. I would rather wait until one of my complete letters is recovered and just let that letter tell that story...) So as for abduction experiences, I recall one, but then I do remember it, so I don't need hypnosis, and besides, as you can tell by surfing this site, my conclusions about the nature of this phenomena conflict with the conclusions of many investigators, and so there might in fact be some conflict there in any case. You can read the Fortean times interview with Betty Hill by following this link, a brief account of her story by following this link, or you can read an interview with Betty Hill at ThemeStream by following this link.
So to summarize, I don't really feel the need to consult with UFO investigators to help me remember what happened to me, because I remember it all. As well, I have corresponded with some UFO investigators, and from I understand, there is a lot of competition in the UFO field, and even some infighting among different factions, and I don't want to get involved in anything like that. Another problem is that very often people get fixed interpretations, as you mentioned, and this could also cause conflict as my experience and my testimony and my understanding brings me into conflict with others, who have different theories. In the end, the truth, the objective truth, the facts if you will, simply are just whatever they are. What is simply just is. There is a time to be subjective, and a time to speculate, and a time to be objective, and this is determined by how much information is available with which to come to a conclusion. For example the world is not flat, it is round. Neither does the sun go round the earth. As our knowledge increases some of our ancestors 'interpretations' prove to be false. As well, there would not be any point in being 'subjective' about the movement of objects in the solar system, since we have the information neccesary to come to an objective conclusion. So there is a time and a place for everything, but I have found that sometimes people could care less about facts and new information, and like our ancestors, want to keep obsolete systems of thought going. This causes conflict and quarrels. As more and more information becomes available I believe that, as a spiritual person, that it is a sign of spiritual maturity to remove subjective spiritual beliefs from one's system of thought and replace them when objective facts prove that some former system of thought is now invalid.
Now I have been considering various ways of answering the points you raise, and you can consider my reponse to be prelimary. When I go surfing past ghost sites, or sites about hauntings and 'the sixth sense' and other paranormal events, or, of course, sites about UFOs, I usually sign the guest book or drop off a brief two or three line email mentioning my site. One day I surfed past something called 'Ashtar Command' and I remember thinking 'I better not drop anything off here, they will be angered.' There was another place called 'Raelians' or something like that, and I had the same instinctive feeling. Both sites interpret UFOs in a spiritual way, and link it together with the modern phenomena known as channelling. They might not appreciate someone proposing a different spiritual schema, so I felt uncomfortable with the idea of dropping anything off there.
So point one. I say one thing, and let's say, for example, the Ashtar command people might say something else. In the end there is objective truth and reality, and people can be right about somethings, and wrong about others. Personally I am ready to be wrong whenever it is clear to me that I am wrong (this is one of the problems with so many churches - they are never wrong, even when it is obvious that they are).
Now a few days ago, with great trepidation, I mentioned that I want to go on a spiritual retreat with like minded people, to pitch tents out in the woods at some lake, and have a refreshing UFO watch (an expression of spirituality for me). So point one. I have done this before (but have had some disappointing experiences as I mentioned on my story page). After all these years, I am extremely confident, fearless really, and this comes from years and years of experience. (It's called loyalty, and faithfulness, which is what I have always received.) Now I said 'like minded' people, because, in my own way, I want to be part of a church, but a church with no UFOs in it, and no retreats out at the lake several times a year, is no church that I want to be a part of because, in my experience, it is a church that is out of touch with the living reality of the things merely alluded to in their doctrines.
So this is my first point. If the Ashtar command wants to retreat out to the lake and so on, they are welcome to do so, but if no one shows up, maybe they should stop and think about Yahweh and Joshua. You see I have always been encouraged to believe this, and rewarded for believing it, and if it is true that Yahweh is God and Joshua rose from the dead, in the end these prove to be objective facts and not subject to subjective interpretation. What is simply just is.
And speaking of 'facts' and 'interpretations' if someone wishes to interpret my experiences in a different manner than I have, it would be neccesary to incorporate and explain certain facts in the interpretative schema. For example that '666' driver's licence number that accompanied these other experiences as I describe them. The object dove into a cloud, and then reappeared with a rainbow around it, another Biblical allusion (and a fine example of that 'duality' I mentioned the other day). The first object appeared after I had been praying to God about starving babies. (I said three prayers, one of which was, 'give me a sign, just like you gave to Joshua). Right now I can't think of anything else to mention. As I said, this is a prelimary attempt at a response. The point I am making here, is that my interpretation is based on my experience and certain relevant details, not to mention years and years of experience that came later. (I didn't just pull all this out of a hat).
For today I think I will leave it at that, and perhaps think of something more to say in the days ahead, or the author might wish to carry on the discussion as well. By the way, keep those emails coming folks!
