Well it is Sunday afternoon as I am writing this, and I have once again been watching some Christian Internet and television. On CrossTv they once again have one of those 'creationist' propaganda shows on. What they do is they have one speaker who is Biblical creationist who roasts a kind of straw man who weakly attempts to defend the scientific point of view from such ingenious and well thought out Bible based criticism. Now, if CrossTV wanted to have a real debate about the Bible, rather than bringing in some straw man to represent the opposition point of view, they could invite me, and get some real debate going. (Not likely. It is one sided propaganda show very thinly disguised as a fair and open debate.) For those who would like some real balance in that creation debate, I invite them to consider my page on the two contradictory stories of creation found in the Bible. Now before CrossTV pumps out this propaganda, they might consider first dealing with the contradictions in this part of the Bible, before trying to suggest that we can base science upon what turns out to be an inconsistent manuscript. They might also be willing to debate the foundations of classic Christian Theology, explaining why it is that the churches insist on nullifying the prophets for the sake of their traditions (and they do so many other things just like that).
But that would be a fair and genuine debate, and what we are actually watching here is a relentless propaganda assault, in this case always aimed at teenagers, teenagers apparently being one of the key target groups of CrossTV. My response - advertise, advertise, advertise all winter long. I swear that by the time this winter is over there won't be one nook and cranny of Canada that I have not exposed to some advertising for my site, and thus also exposed to a source of trenchant Biblical critique and genuine knowledge about the Bible, rather than this flood of falsehoods, deception, and blatant propaganda I get exposed to on a daily basis. You see if I could have maybe half an hour with that auditorium full of teenagers before that CrossTV or someone else has at them, that would be it for CrossTV and any one else who has built their house on such a shaky pile of sand. The first good shaking that comes along and down comes the whole house in a pile of ruins. I should point out to those churches and church streaming Internet media channels, that I also have ads coming out in National circulation magazines that reach both the United States and Canada, and who knows if the odd copy might wind up in some foreign country as well. I have ads coming out in certain busy Internet sites, and I am still plotting my strategy. It can take some time to get some buzz generated, but before I am through I plan to make my site just scandalous on the Internet, which shouldn't be to hard when you stop and think about it. I also like to think that I have chosen a really easy to remember name 'awitness'. A Witness. Anyone can remember that. Sort of a domain name that sticks with a person don't you think? A Witness. Your one stop web shop for trenchant and impossible to refute Biblical critique. (I haven't been oppressed and get under wraps by those churches for so long for nothing you know. But as the gospel said, 'I will give you such wisdom that none of your enemies will be able to refute what you have to say.')
So now that I have finished alarming churches, and getting in a few digs, I would like to take another opportunity to thank all those people who so generously linked up to me, allowed me onto search engines, or welcomed me into web rings, etc. I hope you all get a little bounce out of my advertising and whatever hits I can generate to my site in this way. You see, I may be censored by the church, but I can always talk to their neighbours instead. There is more than one way to skin a cat. Watch for the rising tide of furious reaction to build in force on the Christian media in the weeks and months ahead as I refuse to stay hidden, but keep insisting that I be let out to tell the awful truth that churches don't want anyone to hear.
Someone read my critique of the Bible Code and sent along even more URLs to sites debunking that particular line of church propaganda. (Who knows how many millions of people might have been hoodwinked and duped into joining the religious right through that particularly shady piece of propaganda. As the author who sent me the link remarked on his page, 'I don't have anything against the religious, but what makes people do things like that?" TBN has millions sunk into a Bible Code propaganda movie called 'The Omega Code". One of the results of my relentless advertising in the days and months ahead will be the sending of that Bible code propaganda right down the toilet. Sorry TBN. Back to the drawing board, religious right.)
Thought you might like to see that many have figured the Bible Code is purely mathmatical chance. I enjoyed these articles immensly, especially the one finding Roswell and UFO in the first verse of Genesis.
Hilarious.
More links to sites debunking the Bible code
Thanks so much, and I have added a link to this information on both my links page and I have added it to the end of my piece on the Bible code!
I was watching a Canadian Christian television program last week, called Huntley street, and after remaining silent for several days, I felt that I just had to comment on certain things I heard on one episode. A certain fellow, who was supposed to be a well educated man with 'doctor' of some degree or another was on the program and made two remarks too foolish for me to ignore. He said that the religions of the world are in confusion and lack the 'clarity' of the Judeo-Christian tradition. Clarity? Has anyone surfed my site recently. Feeling confused by all those variant traditions and their contradictory positions on doctrines? Feeling confused? Apparently only that 'doctor' of something or another isn't 'confused' by all this. Well that was bad enough, coming from someone who supposed to be educated. (And he had a sort of guilty, sneaky look on his face while he went about dishing out all that propaganda which led me to believe that he suspected that someone, like me, might be watching, and I have been in the habit of roasting the Christian media lately, so his concerns were justified.) The second thing that he said that really provoked a strong response from me, was that he began describing occult Satanism, and then began rattling off a list of examples. Not on the list were those Bible stories about murdering babies and raping virgins, since we all know how much clarity the Bible brings to morals, and these were obviously not examples of 'Satanism'. But on the list of 'occult Satanic' examples was the Buddha and Buddhism. Ever since I delivered that defence of Buddha a week or so ago, I have been treated to repeated attacks on Buddhism over the streaming Christian internet (several attacks that I noticed just last week alone, and who knows how many that I (mercifully) missed).
Now certain Buddhist and Janists, a related group, would pick up a small bug and carry it across the road to stop it from being run over by a car. And who in their right minds would want to call such people 'occult Satanists'? You can compare this to that wonderful show on TBN last week celebrating the salvation of the soul of a '95 year old woman'. She had that one foot in hell but fortunatley TBN had someone on the case, relentlessly pursuing her soul. You can imagine what would have happened if they had failed. That's right. Christ would have gotten her. You can imagine the horrible smell of burned hair and her agonized screams as Christ poured fires onto her tired, 95 year old head, burning the grey hairs off her head, dumping burning coals onto her stooped 95 year old shoulders. Now I have to agree with Joseph Campbell, who said that given his choice he would pick Buddhism as his favotire religion. It was a peaceful tradition and was absent that long history of violent bloodshed and wicked cruelty and mindless dogmatism that has always characterized the Christian tradition. And this doctor on Huntley street of course had to praise 'our wonderful Judeo-Christian heritage' and noted that to many young people today were unfamiliar with 'the core doctrines of our tradition' even going so far as to say, 'but what's wrong with a Buddhist' something that demonstrated how far they had strayed from the 'core doctrines' outlined above. All I can say in response to this attack on Buddha is that in the future I will be updating my site with some comparative analysis of Buddhism, and of course, I will be blanketing the country with advertising, which is going to make it harder and harder for someone to say things that foolish in this country and get away with it (or so I hope). By the way, I should point out here, that Huntley street is one of the less obnoxious Christian television shows on TV and some of that manure that is being pumped up from across the border is many times more offensive, although I have to say that I find some of the things on that Huntley Street website to be very offensive.
By the way, if you find these critiques of the Bible to be interesting, and you would like to see some reform in the churches, please tell a friend. In the future I am thinking of adding a link to each page which says, 'email this page to a friend' just to make it easier...
