Dominant Ideology and the Origins of Religion

The Torah is one classic piece of genocidal imperialist colonial ideology wrapped up a priestly robe (it was as though some murderous slut only needed to slap on priestly robe and then suddenly that blood soaked slut was a priest).

In this work of art (or ‘god’s word’ if you prefer) we read such things as…

“Drive out all of the natives of the land before you. You shall take possession of their land and send in settlers, for I, the Lord, have assigned to you as your private property. Divide it up among your clans…Put the natives to the slaughter without giving any quarter and burn their towns down…Kill every woman who has had sex with a man and kill every little boy, but keep the virgins for yourselves…Divide them up evenly…Kill all the natives of the land. You shall not leave a single one alive.”

And on a slightly different subject, who could ever forget that classic gem of Biblical sexual morality…

”When you see a beautiful woman and you find her desirable, then you may take her. If she ceases to please you then send her away.”

In order to understand how all this mind warping foulness ever came to be considered ‘the word of a god’ (for no other reason than location, location, location, for it was found located in what was purported to be a ‘holy’ bible) we need to understand the historical context in which these passages emerged.

The history of ancient Israel, and the rise of the earliest states, was followed by the age of the great empires, as the ruling cabals of each of the regional nations began what was the world’s first arms race as they raced to become the dominant imperial power in the region and set up the world’s first empires purchased by means of military superiority. First the Assyrians established the empire, and the next imperialists were the short lived Babylonians and their 39 year long empire, followed by the Persian Empire, and then the Greeks, and then the Roman Empire.

King Solomon brought Israel into the game, but his dream that Israel would rule the dominant empire came to nothing when the heavy taxation he imposed to fuel Israel’s military build up led to a civil war which split the country into two and fatally weakened the fractured state, bringing to an end the ambitions of empire of the Israeli elite at the time.

Solomon also built the first temple and instituted the priestly religion of the ancient state and so the formation of the Torah took place at the same time as Israel was seeking regional domination. The dominant ideology of the time was violent imperialism, not just in Israel, but in all the surrounding states of the region, and so therefore since religion is always found to be allied with the state, it was no surprise then that bloody colonialism became the ideology of religion, since religion has always been a tool of the state.

The original meaning of the Christian crucifix could be put into words in the following manner : ‘Caesar crucifies slaves, but God raises his victims from the dead.’ This insulting message of insurrection was unsuitable as an instrument of the state, and so therefore it was unsuitable as religion and had to be replaced.

In order to make people forget the meaning of the early Christian symbol it was required that the emerging religious hierarchy produce a prostituted crucifix. Only in this way could religion return to its original function as a tool of the state, for the symbol of the crucifix was a weapon to be employed against the state and therefore could not be used to justify and support the rule of the Roman elite.

According to the religion that emerged out of this Roman Empire, Yeshua (Jesus) was nailed to the cross to pay the price required for your sin and for mine. He took our place and bore upon himself the punishment we deserved for our sinful criminal human nature, and thereby purchased redemption for us by spilling his blood. You see we all deserve to be tortured to death. It was God who crucified Christ as part of dramatic divine ritual, much like the cow sacrifice of Israel, which was a prophecy of the crucifix.

This church doctrine normalizes torture. It also whitewashes the role played by Caesar. This doctrine attaches itself to the crucifix like a vampire bat and then sucks the blood out of the symbol until it has been bled white. Having been thoroughly disinfected and well bleached this anemic crucifix was rendered so inoffensive that eventually Caesar was pleased enough with the labors of the church fathers and the theological scribes that he was inclined to make that new Christian religion the religion of the Roman Empire, and so as a religion it became just one more tool of the state. It was a pro-torture doctrine because the religion which produced it emerged from the Roman Empire and so therefore since Dominant Ideology dictates the doctrines of any religion that emerges, and since the Dominant Ideology of the Roman state was the torture and exploitation of slaves to generate wealth for the dominant elite of the empire, the Roman religion became a religion of torture which emphasized obedience to those who were to become ‘the slaves of Christ’.
