Introduction - The Electric Chair - an analogy

There are certain preachers and even certain congregations who insist that the purpose of a crucifixion is to create flag waving, obedient citizens who obey the authorities and uphold the standard way of life of the surrounding culture, resisting all change and trying to turn back the clock if something does change.

It would seem that they have been reading Paul, selectively, of course, for how can anyone read through a hodge podge like that dog's breakfast thrown together in the Bible without being highly selective about what they choose to read?

If people just made up their minds not to accept any evil of any type, they might be able to read a dog's breakfast like the Bible and not become a victim of mass confusion in the process.

Let us suppose that someone were to challenge a powerful oppressor, and let us further suppose that they died in an electric chair, and let us that this led to the rise of a church. It would then be the case that on the highest steeple of all the churches in the country, we would find perched there, an electric chair, instead of a cross.. Preachers would come to stand behind the altar, in the presence of the electric char, to deliver their next sermon, which hopefully, given the fact that they were inspired to sermonize by the symbol of the electric chair, might be a sermon challenging the powerful rather than pandering to them and creating those docile tools of oppression, which all to often is the product of a church.

Introduction - Conspiracy

Just as Iraq is being held at gun point and robbed, so the Bolivians are being held at gun point, having been the victims of armed robbery repeatedly in the past, as have all the other Third World victims of Imperialist Colonialism. The death squads are becoming active again, one example of these monstrous crimes being the situation in Guatemala. The Government of the United States is a festering hive of crooks and law breaking criminals, who raise their snouts in the air to condemn the law and then break the law, and soon enough are destroying the entire nation with their criminality, having taken it upon themselves to destroy the Constitution, not to mention the Bill or Rights, not to mention the Magna Carta.

There are two types of crime. There is the active criminal and then there is the co-conspirator. As you would know the religious right is in bed with that nest of criminals, and is guilty of the crimes of conspiracy, even if someone actually fires the gun. You could not get one minute of sound bite air time for a Bolivian to tell their side of the Imperialist story of the Third World on a rotted piece of dung like that religious right broadcasting system. Now will any voice be raised as the nation plunges into Nazism and every law is broken by gangsters and murderous thieves.

It therefore follows that Religious Right leaders will find themselves not only losing their networks, with the assets handed over to someone with some decency rather than being a criminal hypocritically mouthing off about vain and worthless religious nonsense, but as well, since a crime has been committed here, the religious right minister will find themselves up in the docket facing the International War Crimes Tribunal, under the righteous charge of conspiracy, not to mention crimes of solicitation and possession.

Therefore, since the churches are riddled with criminals, just like your government and the rest of your crime wracked society, it only logically follows that a message to the ‘ecumenical movement' might be to ask what is the matter with you people, or perhaps better yet, ‘Doctor, heal thyself.' For who wants to visit doctor to get a prescription when such a doctor cannot even write prescriptions for his own household.

An Old Time Prophet

It has been said, ‘is this a prophet? What are these strange words? How is it that he is not like an old time prophet? Why should we listen to him?" Therefore, since these things have been said, and given my principle of always speaking to people in their own language, by popular demand, I will therefore speak to them in the language of an Old Time Prophet of theirs, to keep them happy.

The Clay Pot

Is evil a repayment for doing good? Remember how I stood before thee to speak good for them, to turn away the wrath that was coming down upon them. Yet they did not harken to my voice but instead have dug a pit for my life. Therefore let them be delivered up to poverty and the sword, and let their young men be slain in battle. Let a cry go up from the land when the marauder suddenly falls upon them. For they have blocked my path and lay snares for my feet.

Thus I was told to buy a clay pot, and then find the leaders of this people and some of the leading priests and ministers and then go out to the valley of Hinnom at the entry of the Potsherd Gate, and proclaim there your message. You shall say, "Hear the word of YAHWEH, you leaders of these people of the land, for such evil is coming down upon this place as will make the ears of everyone who hears of it burn. Because these people are bowing down to their idols and their false gods and burning their incense to their images, and because they have filled the world with the blood of the innocent while at the same time they have offered their own people are burned offerings in the hell fires to their idols, something that was not commanded or decreed that they should do, behold the days are coming when this place will become known as the Slaughter House.

I will make null and void the plans of every church, and instead they will be crushed by their enemies and hunted down by those who seek their lives, and their nation will becom a world wide horror, a thing to be hissed at in disgust, as every other nation is horrified and hisses at disgust at them because of all their disasters.

They will eat the bark off of trees in their desperation while they are held at gun point under siege under the horrors of the distress with which their enemies who seek after their lives will be inflicting upon them.

Therefore, break a clay pot in the sight of the leaders of these people and say to them, 'Thus saith YAHWEH of hosts. So this people and this nation that be broken, just as one breaks a clay pot, shattered beyond all hope of repair, and the bodies of these people will be buried in Topheth, the burning garbage dump, until their is no room left to bury them. That is what will happen to these people and their country, making their nation like Topheth, a burning garbage dump.

Thus will all this evil come down upon this nation because they have stiffened their necks and turned stubborn, refusing to heed my words.

The False Prophet

And when the False Prophet heard these words, he turned to the attack, and preached to these people, ‘Peace, peace be upon and prosperity for all."

Therefore, because you have listened to your false prophets, your new name will be called Terrorism, for you will live with Terror on every side, as you are handed over to the Nazi King of Babylon. Moreover you will be plundered and all your prized possessions will be either seized or pawned off at the pawn shop or sold for peanuts at a garage sale. For all my prophecies are ‘Violence and Destruction,' while around me everyone whispers, ‘perhaps he may stumble and fall and we can take some revenge on him...Perhaps he will be deceived or make some mistake so that we can have an excuse to attack him...maybe NASA will land safely on Monday then we open fire on him, for that will be our big chance to rid ourselves of him and his prophecies." But they will not succeed and the poor and the needy will be delivered from the hand of these evil doers while their scandal and their dishonor last for an eternity.


I will turn back the weapons of war which are in your hands and with which you are fighting against the King of Babylon and against the Capitalists who are beseiging you outside your walls, and I will bring them together to come crashing down upon your cities. I myself will fight against you will outstretched hand and mighty arms, in anger, and in fury, and in great wrathfulness. And I will strike the inhabitants of this land, You will be handed over to great poverty and endless warfare, while your police state smites you wity the edge of the sword of the King of Babylon, and he will not pity them, or spare them, or show any compassion. And so behold, I set before you the way of life and the way of death and destruction. Anyone who remains in their churches as they are right now, will fall by the sword and suffer poverty and pestilence, for this people shall be handed over to the King of Babylon and he shall burn the nation will fire. Therefore, do justice in the morning and deliver the third world which has been robbed from the hand of the capitalist, their oppressor, lest my wrath go forth like fire and burn with nothing to quench it because of your evil deeds. Behold, I am against you, who say to yourselves, 'who shall come against us and who shall threaten our lifestyle." You will be punished by your own deeds and eat the fruit of your own doings. I will kindle a fire in her forest which shall devour everything around her.

So I was told to gather together the leaders of those churches, and the people who enter their gates, and say to them, Thus saith YAHWEH of hosts, Do justice and righteousness, and deliver the third world who have been robbed from the hand of the capitalists of Wall Street, their evil oppressors. Allow no wrong to be done to the poor in the ghettos, or to the foreigners in your midst, or to the widows depending on their pensions, and allow no more innocent blood to be shed in your nation. For if you will obey this word, then you will find the people entering your gates. Judge the cause of the poor and the needy, then all will be well with you. Is this not to know your God? But if you do not listen, then I swear, your house will become a desolation. Destroyers will come against you, and will cut down your choicest cedars. And when the people of other lands ask, 'Why has this great disaster happened to these people and their nation,' they will be told, 'it was because their churches forsook the covenant and instead worshipped idols and served them." For I spoke to you in your prosperity, but you said, 'I will not listen.' This has been your way, oh churches, since the time of your youth. You have not obeyed, but instead have peddled religion, setting up your idols in this house and worshipping them. Therefore, the whirl wind will shepherd all your shepherds, and all your lovers shall go into slavery and you yourself will be confounded because of all your evil deeds.

The Religious Right

Woe to the shepherds who destroy and scatter the sheep on the pasture land. Therefore, saith YAHWEH of hosts, concerning those shepherds : "You have scattered my flock and have driven them away and you have not attended to them. Behold, now I myself will attend to you for your evil deeds, saith YAHWEH. Once I have dealt with you, I will gather my flock back to their pastures, and they will once again be fruitful and multiply. I will set shepherds over them, who care for them, and they will fear no more, nor be dismayed, entierh shall anymore be found missing, saith YAHWEH. Behold I will raise up a leader who will act wisely and shall execute justice and righteousness in the land. Both prophet and priest are ungodly, even in my church I have all their wicked ways. Therefore their way shall be to them like slippery paths in the black darkness, into which they shall be driven and shall fall, for I will bring great evil down upon them in the year of their punishment, saith YAHWEH of hosts. They have prophecied in the name of their idols and have led my people astray. I have seen a horror. They speak lies and they strengthen the hand of evil oppressors, so that no one turns away from wickedness, and so the religious right has become like Sodom and Gomorrah to me. Therefore saith YAHWEH of hosts, concerning the religious right and their prophets, "Behold I will feed them with wormwood and give them poisoned water to drink, for from the religious right and their prophets a spirit of ungodliness has gone out over the entire land.

So do not listen to those prophets of the religious right who prophesy to you, filling you with vain hopes; they speak visions of their own minds and things they have made up out thin air, and not the Word. They constantly say to those who hate the Word, 'All shall be well with you...peace and prosperity shall be yours,' and to all who follow their own stubbornnness they say, 'Nothing evil will ever happen to you." For which of those prophets have stood in the council of YAHWEH to hear the word and then proclaim it these people. Behold the storm of YAHWEH. Wrath has gone forth like a furious whirl wind, and it will burst out over the heads of the wicked. In the days to come you will truly understand this. "I did not send these prophets, and yet they ran with their message; I did not speak to them, yet they told prophecy. But if they would have stood in my council, then they would have proclaimed my Word to these people and turned them away from all their monstrous and evil deeds. Am I only a God far off, and not near at hand. Is there some hole in the ground where those prophets can hide where I will not find them? How long will those prophets carry on telling their lies and their deceitful things they make up in their own heart, as part of that plot they have devised to make my people forget my Name, even as their ancestors forgot me to worship their religious idols. What has straw in common with wheat? Is not my Word like a fire and like a great hammer that pounds the rock into pieces. So behold I am against those prophets who lead my people astray by their reckless lies when I did not send them or appoint them. They do not benefit these people in the least. You are the burden, and your burden to carry is your own word since you have perverted the Words of our God.

Because you have despised this Word, and put your trust in oppression and perversity, and rely on them, therefore you will find this crime of yours to be like a break in a high wall, already cracked and bulging, whose crash comes suddenly in an instant, and the breaking of that wall is like the smashing of clay pot, smashed so ruthlessly that among its fragments not even a shard is found that is big enough to use to scoop water.

My hand shall be against those prophets who spread delusions and give lying divinations; they shall not be in the council of my people nor be enrolled in the register, nor shall they enter the promised land, because they have misled my people, saying, 'peace and prosperity', when there is no peace and prosperity, and because when those churches build a wall those prophets come and daub it with whitewash. Say to those daubers that the wall shall fall. There will be a flood, with great hailstones and whirlwind breaking out, and when that wall falls, will it not be said to you, 'Why did you bother with the whitewash?' So in great fury and terrible wrath a whirlwind will break out, with great hailstones and flooding rains, and it will destroy the wall you have daubed with whitewash and you will be destroyed along with it. Thus shall wrathfulness be poured out upon the wall and upon those who daubed it with whitewash, and I will say to you, 'The wall is no more, nor those who daubed it."

Two baskets of figs

Then I was taken to the church, and I was shown to baskets of figs. One had very good figs, like the first ripened of the season, but the other basket had rotten figs, so bad that they could not be eaten. So then like these good figs so I will regard the exiles who have left this church and have abgandoned the land of the Babylonian and their capitalism. I will set my eyes upon them for good, and bring them back and I will build them up and not tear them down, neither will I uproot them. They will be given I right heart. But the bad figs will become a horror to all the nations of the earth, to be a reproach, a curse, and byword, a taunt in all the places they will be driven into. They will be destroyed by poverty and crushed by the sword. For a lion has left hid den, and their land will become a wasteland because of the furious anger of the oppressor.

So therefore, go those churches and say all the words I command you to speak to them; do not hold back even one word. Perhaps they will listen and turn from their evil way that the evil that is about to happen to them may be prevented. Say to them, 'If you not will listen to me, and walk according to the law which I have set before you, and heed the word of the prophet whom I send to you urgently, though you have not listened, then I will make you into a curse before all the nations of the world. Therefore mend your ways and obey the law and perhaps the evil that is coming down upon you may be prevented. You may break a wooden yoke, but you will find it has been replaced by an iron yoke. So do not place your trust in a lie.

The Loin cloth

I was told, 'Go now, and buy a linen loin cloth, and put it on your loins, but do not dip it in water.' So I bought the loin cloth, and put it on my loins. And then I was told a second time to take the loin cloth and go to the Euphrates in Iraq, and hide the loin cloth there in the cleft of the rock.

After some days had gone by I was told to go to Iraq and the Euphrates and take the loin cloth I hidden there, and I did so, and behold, the loin cloth was completely ruined for it had rotted away and was now good for nothing. And so the Word came to me, 'even as that loin cloth has been ruined so I will ruin the arrogance and pride of the proud within these churches. Those evil people who refuse to hear my words or obey the law and go on and on stubbornly following their own evil ways and who have bowed down to worship their religious idols, they shall all become just like that loin cloth, absolutely good for nothing.

The Wine Flask

Say to these churches, 'Every wine flask should be filled with wine" And then they will say to you, 'We already know that every wine flask should be filled with wine." Then say to those people, "I will fill with drunkeness all the people of these churches, all their ministers and their prophets and all their congregations. I will dash them against each other and shall not pity or spare them or show them any compassion that they should not be destroyed. Therefore listen to these Words and be done with your arrogance and pride. Obey the Law before you are sent into darkness, before you stumble in the twilight and the twilight turns into deep gloom and then into utter darkness, and you will be exiled into captivity.

The Pope

Say to the Pope, 'take a lowly seat, for your beautiful crown has been knocked off your head." The Catholic church is locked up, its people taken into captivity. Lift up your eyes and look to the north. Where is your flock that was given to you, your beautfiul flock? What will you say when they set as a boss over you those whom you yourself have taught to be friends with you? Will not pain take hold of you, like those of woman in labor? And if you say in your heart, 'Why have these terrible things come down upon me?' it is because of the greatness of your iniquity that your skirts are lifted up and you suffer violence. Can the leopard change its spots? In the same way how can you do good who are so accustomed to doing evil? I will scatter you like chaff driven by the wind from the desert. This is your portion for you have forgotten YAHWEH and instead have trusted in lies. So YAHWEH will lift your skirt over your head and your shame will be seen. How long will it be before you become clean?

Woe to those Oligarchs, the imperialist colonialists of the Third World, who are constantly devising wicked schemes and plotting evil on their beds. When the morning comes, they perform that evil, because they are so powerful and have the law in their own hands. They covet fields and great estates, and so they seize the land, and houses, and so they take them away. They oppress all the people of their conquered territories in the third world and rob the people of those nations of their inheritance. Therefore, saith YAHWEH of hosts, I am against those oligarchs, and I am devising evil againt you all, from which you will not be able to remove your necks, and you shall no longer walk haughtily for it will be an evil time. In that day the entire third world shall take up a taunt song against you, singing, 'We are utterly ruined. How we have lost everything and it has all been taken away from us now. Among the people he divides our fields. Therefore you will be left with not even so much as a dime or even so much as one square acre.

But has the Pope, in his wisdom, not said, "Do not Preach these things. One should not preach of such trhings. Disgrace will never overtake us. Should such things be said at a church. Is the Spirit of God impatient. Are these the doings of God? Are not the Words of God words of great blessing for the righteous."

But you rise up against my people just like an enemy; you strip the robe from my servant, from those who pass by with no thought of war. You drive my people out the pleasant places and from the little children you have taken my Glory forever. Therefore, get up and get out, for this is not a resting place for you. To defile yourself you are ready to perform any act of wickedness, no matter how cruel. If some priest shoul d go about preaching about beer and wine, that would be the perfect priest for these people.
